MC Dungeons Armors Mod Guide: All 74 Armor Sets, Upgrade Cores & Enchantments
MC Dungeons Armors brings over 74 themed armor sets from Minecraft Dungeons into Java Edition. Each set offers unique protection values, optional stat bonuses to attack damage or movement speed, and powerful full-set abilities. Most sets follow a base-to-upgraded crafting path using Smithing Table upgrade cores, while rarer sets can be discovered in loot chests across the world.
Overview
MC Dungeons Armors adds 74 armor sets inspired by Minecraft Dungeons into Java Edition. The sets span five material tiers: lightweight Fabric Robes, Leather-based animal armor, mid-tier Iron and Metal armor, heavy Plate armor, and upgraded elite armor forged at the Smithing Table. Each set provides unique protection values, optional stat bonuses to attack damage, movement speed, or attack speed, and powerful full-set bonus abilities activated by wearing all pieces of the set.
Most sets follow a two-tier crafting progression. A base version is crafted at the Crafting Table, and an upgraded variant is unlocked by combining the base set with a themed Upgrade Core at the Smithing Table. Many sets also appear as loot in vanilla structures, giving players a chance to find armor before they have the crafting materials. All items and recipes for this mod are viewable in the Items and Recipes tabs above.
A recipe-viewing mod such as REI or JEI is highly recommended for navigating the large number of armor recipes. It shows all ingredient requirements, upgrade paths, and repair materials for every set at a glance.
Getting Started
- 1
Craft Bolts of Fabric
Bolts of Fabric are the core material for robe-type armor. Combine 3 Sticks with 6 matching Wool to get 3 Bolts. Sixteen colors exist, each used by different sets. Black, Blue, Gray, and Purple Bolts appear most frequently across recipes, so stocking up on those first saves time.
- 2
Smelt Iron into Plates and Scales
Iron Plates (2 Iron Nuggets + 2 Iron Ingots, yields 2 Plates) and Iron Scales (1 Iron Nugget + 2 Iron Ingots, yields 4 Scales) appear in dozens of metal armor recipes and also serve as repair ingredients. Crafting a full stack of each before starting metal armor saves repeated trips to the Crafting Table.
- 3
Equip Your First Set
Pick a set that matches your available materials. The Evocation Robe (Blue Bolts + Gold Ingots) is an accessible early mage set with a +5% attack damage bonus. The Wolf Armor (Wolf Pelt, dropped by Wolves at 25%) offers leather-tier defense with small combat bonuses. Check the Recipes tab to compare material costs.
- 4
Hunt Mobs for Pelts
Several armor sets are gated behind mob-dropped Pelts. Wolves drop Wolf Pelt (25%), Foxes drop Fox Pelt (25%), Goats drop Goat Pelt (40%), and Ocelots drop Ocelot Pelt (35%). Phantoms drop Phantom Bones (35%) and Phantom Skin (10%). If farming specific mobs proves difficult, Wandering Traders sell all pelts for 16-24 Emeralds each.
- 5
Craft an Upgrade Core - Base
The Upgrade Core - Base is required as the foundation for all 17+ themed Upgrade Cores. Craft it at the Crafting Table using 1 Netherite Ingot surrounded by 8 different colored Bolts of Fabric. From the Base Core, create themed cores (Metal, Soul, Frost, Ember, etc.) at the Smithing Table by combining with a thematic material and Blaze Powder.
Core Crafting Materials
Bolts of Fabric
Bolts of Fabric are crafted in 16 colors: combine 3 Sticks with 6 matching Wool to produce 3 Bolts. Each armor set specifies exact colors, and using the wrong color produces no output. Most robe armor requires 6-8 Bolts per piece, so batch-crafting large quantities in advance is worthwhile.
Iron Plates and Iron Scales
Iron Scale (1 Iron Nugget + 2 Iron Ingots) yields 4 Scales per craft. Iron Plate (2 Iron Nuggets + 2 Iron Ingots) yields 2 Plates per craft. Both materials appear across all mid-tier metal armor sets and serve as Anvil repair ingredients for those sets. They are also used to craft the Upgrade Core - Metal.
Bone Rib Cage
The Bone Rib Cage (7 Bones + 2 Slime Balls) is the structural component for Grim Armor. Grim Armor itself serves as the base for Wither Armor, Gourdian Armor, and the Ghost Kindler set via Smithing Table upgrades. Preparing several Rib Cages early prevents interruptions when progressing through the undead armor line.
Glut Charm and Gemstones
The Glut Charm is crafted from 8 different food items (Beef, Porkchop, Chicken, Rotten Flesh, Spider Eye, Mutton, Pufferfish, Chorus Fruit) and is the Upgrade Core material for Hungry Horror Armor. Gemstones (Quartz, Redstone, Amethyst, Emerald, Lapis Lazuli) each require 8x of their respective material plus 1 Netherite Ingot. Gemstones unlock the five Mystery Armor variants and can also be obtained from Piglin bartering at 1% chance.

The Upgrade Core System
Upgraded armor sets require combining the base armor piece with a themed Upgrade Core at the Smithing Table, using Blaze Powder as the activation material. The Upgrade Core - Base requires 1 Netherite Ingot surrounded by 8 different-colored Bolts of Fabric at the Crafting Table. Each Base Core is consumed to make exactly one themed core, and each themed core upgrades exactly one armor piece.
To upgrade a full four-piece set, you need four Base Cores, four themed cores, and four Blaze Powders in addition to the four base armor pieces. Plan your Netherite supply accordingly. Each themed core is crafted at the Smithing Table from: Upgrade Core - Base + thematic material + Blaze Powder.
Key upgrade paths: Upgrade Core - Metal (Base Core + Iron Scale or Iron Plate) upgrades Plate to Full Metal, Mercenary to Renegade, Guards to Curious, and Scale Mail to Highland. Upgrade Core - Soul (Base Core + Soul Sand) upgrades Soul Robe to Souldancer, Ghostly to Ghost Kindler, and Grim to Gourdian or Wither. Upgrade Core - Frost (Base Core + Frost Crystal) upgrades Snow to Frost Armor and Phantom to Frost Bite. Upgrade Core - Void (Base Core + Ender Eye) upgrades Shulker to Sturdy Shulker and Teleportation to Unstable Robe.

Mob Drop Materials
Several armor sets require mob-dropped Pelts. Wolves drop Wolf Pelt (25% chance, +20% per Looting level) and the rare Black Wolf Pelt (10%). Foxes drop Fox Pelt (25%, with +50% per Looting level, making Looting III very effective). Goats provide Goat Pelt at 40% per roll with 2 rolls per kill, giving roughly 64% effective chance. Ocelots drop Ocelot Pelt (35%) and the rare Black Ocelot Pelt (10%).
Phantoms drop Phantom Bones (35%) and Phantom Skin (10%), both required for Phantom Armor and the Frost Bite upgrade. Skeleton Skulls drop from Skeletons at just 5% base (up to +10% per Looting level). Frost Crystal drops from breaking Blue Ice without Silk Touch at 20%. The most efficient source is frozen ocean biomes, where flat Blue Ice formations generate near the surface.
Mob Drop Rates
| Wolf Pelt (Wolf) | 25% base, +20% per Looting |
| Black Wolf Pelt (Wolf) | 10% base, +10% per Looting |
| Fox Pelt (Fox) | 25% base, +50% per Looting |
| Arctic Fox Pelt (Arctic Fox) | 25% base, +10% per Looting |
| Goat Pelt (Goat) | 40% per roll, 2 rolls per kill |
| Ocelot Pelt (Ocelot) | 35% base, +20% per Looting |
| Black Ocelot Pelt (Ocelot) | 10% base, +10% per Looting |
| Phantom Bones (Phantom) | 35% base, +20% per Looting |
| Phantom Skin (Phantom) | 10% base, +10% per Looting |
| Skeleton Skull (Skeleton) | 5% base, +10% per Looting |
| Frost Crystal (Blue Ice, no Silk Touch) | 20% per block |
All mob-dropped pelts, including Black Wolf Pelt and Arctic Fox Pelt, are sold by Wandering Traders for 16-24 Emeralds each. This is a reliable alternative if the relevant mob biomes are distant or the drop RNG is unkind.
Armor Sets by Tier
The mod's 74 armor sets fall into five broad tiers. Fabric Robes offer 5-15 armor with powerful active abilities. Animal and Leather Armor provides 10-15 armor with mobility and utility bonuses. Iron and Metal Armor reaches 13-18 armor with balanced utility effects. Heavy Plate Armor peaks at 20-26 armor with trade-offs. Upgraded Elite Armor, accessed via Smithing Table, combines the best stats with the most powerful set bonuses.
Armor Tier Comparison
| Evocation | Wolf | Guards | Stalwart | Full Metal | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Armor (total) | 7 (3 pieces) | 13 | 18 | 18 | 24 |
| Toughness | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1.0 | 3.0 |
| ATK Boost | +5% | +2.5% | none | none | +5% |

| Set Bonus | Ember/Verdant upgrades | Upgrades to Black Wolf | Base for Curious Armor | No knockback while sneaking, Resistance I | Max defense, speed penalty |
Fabric Robes and Light Armor
Evocation Robe, Ember Robe, and Verdant Robe
Evocation Robe is a three-piece set (Hat, Robe, Pants, no boots) with 7 total armor and a +5% attack damage boost per piece. Two Smithing upgrades branch from it. Ember Robe (Upgrade Core - Ember) retains the +5% attack damage and ignites enemies within 6 blocks when performing a sneak-jump. Verdant Robe (Upgrade Core - Verdant) also keeps +5% attack damage and fertilizes crops within 3 blocks while sneaking, acting like Bone Meal on every crouch step.
Battle Robe and Splendid Robe
Battle Robe is a two-piece set (Robe + Pants only) with just 5 total armor. Despite the minimal protection, it upgrades to the Splendid Robe (Upgrade Core - Magicked), which adds +7.5% attack damage and a 30% chance to summon Vexes within 6 blocks to attack nearby enemies whenever you strike.
Soul Robe and Souldancer Robe
Soul Robe (Gray Bolts + Soul Sand, 13 total armor, 2.0 toughness) stands out as one of the toughest fabric sets before upgrades. Souldancer Robe (Upgrade Core - Soul) improves this to 15 armor, retains 2.0 toughness, and adds a 30% chance to dodge incoming attacks, Speed I while submerged, and 1.5x experience gain from kills.
Teleportation Robe and Unstable Robe
Teleportation Robe (Purple Bolts + Ender Eyes + Copper Ingot, 11 total armor) enables Enderman-style random teleportation triggered by a sneak-jump. It also appears in Stronghold loot chests. The Unstable Robe (Upgrade Core - Void, 15 armor) adds explosive teleportation effects and can be configured to use controlled directional teleportation instead of random displacement.
Thief Armor, Spider Armor, and Ghostly Armor
Thief Armor (Black Bolts + Iron Ingots, 13 armor) grants complete Invisibility while sneaking, the premier stealth option. Spider Armor (Black Bolts, 13 armor, +3.75% attack speed) enables wall climbing like a Spider and grants immunity to Cobweb slowdown. Ghostly Armor (Blue + Black Bolts + Skeleton Skull, 13 armor, +3.75% attack damage) upgrades to Ghost Kindler (Upgrade Core - Soul), which sets targets ablaze on hit and leaves a fire trail behind you.
Troubadour and Entertainer's Garb
Entertainer's Garb (Cyan Bolts, 11 armor) is the base for the Troubadour (Upgrade Core - Void, 15 armor). The Troubadour set bonus doubles the duration of beneficial status effects from potions and halves the duration of harmful ones, making it ideal for potion-heavy playstyles or support roles on multiplayer servers.
Evocation Robe

Animal and Leather Armor
Wolf Armor and Black Wolf Armor
Wolf Armor (Wolf Pelt, 13 total armor) grants +2.5% attack damage and +2.5% attack speed per piece worn. Black Wolf Armor (Upgrade Core - Wolf, requires Black Wolf Pelt, 15 armor) keeps both bonuses and adds the Leader of the Pack set bonus: all tamed Wolves deal 50% increased damage. Black Wolf Pelt drops at only 10%, making this set a genuine progression milestone.
Fox Armor and Arctic Fox Armor
Fox Armor (Wolf Armor upgraded via Upgrade Core - Fox, requires Fox Pelt, 14 armor, +2.5% attack damage) grants Sweet Berry immunity and the Fox Pounce ability: a 6-block lunge toward enemies. Arctic Fox Armor is crafted by combining Fox Armor with an Arctic Fox Pelt at the Crafting Table, adding 1.2x airborne attack damage and a Speed boost when eating Sweet Berries.
Ocelot Armor and Shadow Walker Armor
Ocelot Armor (Ocelot Pelt, 10 armor, +5% movement speed) is the fastest crafted base-tier set available. Shadow Walker Armor (Upgrade Core - Shadows, requires Black Ocelot Pelt, 14 armor, +8% movement speed, +2.5% attack speed) additionally grants complete fall damage immunity and Speed III while sprinting, making it one of the most mobility-focused sets in the mod.
Climbing Gear and Rugged Climbing Gear
Climbing Gear (13 armor, crafted from colored Bolts + Leather Armor pieces) is a versatile mid-tier utility set. Rugged Climbing Gear (Upgrade Core - Frost, 15 armor) enables actual wall climbing when the full set is worn and allows walking on Powdered Snow without sinking using only the Boots.
Phantom Armor and Frost Bite Armor
Phantom Armor (Phantom Skin + Phantom Bones, 14 armor, +7.5% movement speed) applies permanent Slow Falling, preventing fall damage and enabling controlled aerial descents. Frost Bite Armor (Upgrade Core - Frost, 18 armor, +7.5% movement speed) adds the ability to apply a 3-second freeze to any enemy struck in melee.
Goat Gear and Spelunker Armor
Goat Gear (Goat Pelt + existing Leather Armor, 15 armor, 0.2 knockback resistance total) has the highest knockback resistance of any non-plate set. The Goat Gear Boots alone allow walking on Powdered Snow without sinking. Spelunker Armor (Blue + Orange Bolts + Leather, 14 armor) is the base for Cave Crawler (Upgrade Core - Depth), which grants Haste I below Y-level 32 and +2.5% movement speed.
Wolf Vest

Iron and Metal Armor
Scale Mail and Highland Armor
Scale Mail is a three-piece set (no Helmet, only Chestplate + Leggings + Tasset) providing 11 armor with +3.75% attack damage. Highland Armor (Upgrade Core - Highland via Smithing) adds a Helmet slot, raising protection to 15 armor with +3.75% attack damage, and grants Haste I only when above Y-level 100. It excels for surface exploration and mountaintop combat but provides no benefit underground.
Reinforced Mail and Stalwart Armor
Reinforced Mail (Iron Plates pressed onto Iron Armor, 17 armor, 1.0 toughness) upgrades to Stalwart Armor (Upgrade Core - Metal, 18 armor, 1.0 toughness). The Stalwart set bonus negates knockback entirely while sneaking and provides permanent Resistance I, making it a strong defensive pick for players who want tankiness without the movement speed penalty of Plate sets.
Guard's Armor and Curious Armor
Guard's Armor (Leather Armor reinforced with Iron Ingots, 18 armor) is a solid base set with no special effect, serving primarily as the crafting ingredient for Curious Armor (Upgrade Core - Metal, 18 armor, 2.0 toughness). Curious Armor's set bonus triggers a 10% chance to randomly teleport either the wearer or the attacker upon taking damage, creating chaotic positioning during melee.
Beenest Armor and Beehive Armor
Beenest Armor (Honey Blocks + Bee Nests, 13 armor, +3.75% attack damage) summons Bees to attack enemies when you are hit, with a 10% trigger chance. Beehive Armor (Upgrade Core - Hive, 15 armor, +3.75% attack damage) raises that trigger to 30% with more Bees per proc. Both use Bee Nests as their Anvil repair ingredient.
Mercenary Armor and Renegade Armor
Mercenary Armor (Iron Plates layered on Iron Armor, 17 armor, 1.5 toughness) is a mid-tier plate variant. Renegade Armor (Upgrade Core - Metal, 17 armor, 1.75 toughness, +5% attack damage) adds Strength III while sprinting, rewarding players who commit to aggressive, forward-charging combat.
Vanguard Armor
Vanguard Armor is a three-piece set (Helmet + Chestplate + Belt, no leggings or boots) crafted from Iron Ingots, Gold Ingots, and Leather. It provides 11 armor and naturally appears in Nether Fortress chest loot. Its asymmetric gold-and-iron design gives it a distinctive appearance among the mod's sets.
Reinforced Mail and Stalwart Armor

Heavy Plate and High-Tier Armor
Plate Armor and Full Metal Armor
Plate Armor (Iron Plates, 20 armor, 1.5 toughness, +5% attack damage, -3.75% movement speed) can be found in Village Blacksmith chests without crafting. Full Metal Armor (Upgrade Core - Metal, 24 armor, 3.0 toughness, +5% attack damage, -2.5% movement speed) reaches the highest total armor value in the mod, equivalent to full Diamond Armor, at the cost of a noticeable movement speed reduction.
Dark Armor, Titan's Shroud, and Royal Guard
Dark Armor (Netherite Scrap + Black Bolts + Iron Ingots, 20 armor, 1.0 toughness, +3.75% attack damage) is craftable and also appears in Pillager Outpost loot. Titan's Shroud (Upgrade Core - Metal, 20 armor, 2.0 toughness, +7.5% attack damage, +3.75% attack speed) applies a random negative status effect (Hunger, Nausea, Blindness, Mining Fatigue, Slowness, Unluck, or Weakness) to enemies on strike. Royal Guard (Dark Armor + Totem of Undying via Smithing, 20 armor, 1.5 toughness, +7.5% attack damage) is the high-offense villainous variant.
Champion's Armor and Hero's Armor
Champion's Armor has no crafting recipe and does not appear in any loot table. It is obtained exclusively by trading with a Master Armorer Villager for 64 Emeralds per piece. Hero's Armor (Upgrade Core - Metal, 24 armor, 2.0 toughness, +7.5% attack damage, +3.75% attack speed) upgrades from Champion's and adds the Hero of the Village effect while wearing the full set, reducing Villager trade prices.
Gilded Glory and Opulent Armor
Emerald Gear (Emeralds + Iron Armor, 20 armor, +5% attack speed) upgrades to Opulent Armor (Upgrade Core - Highland, 20 armor, 2.0 toughness, +5% attack speed), which grants permanent Luck while worn. Gilded Glory (Opulent Armor + Totem of Undying via Smithing, 20 armor, 2.0 toughness, +5% attack speed) adds Hero of the Village, a damage bonus against Illagers, and a Totem-like protection on death.
Cauldron Armor
Cauldron Armor (Plate Armor upgraded with Upgrade Core - Soul, 26 total armor, 2.0 toughness, +5% attack damage, -2.5% movement speed) has a 15% chance to drop a Strength, Swiftness, or Invisibility Potion when you take damage. Notably, the Cauldron Chestplate requires a literal Cauldron Block as one of its Smithing Table inputs. It ties with Full Metal and Sturdy Shulker as the highest-armor set in the mod.
Shulker Armor and Sturdy Shulker Armor
Shulker Armor (Shulker Shells + Iron Chestplate, 18 armor, 1.0 toughness) upgrades to Sturdy Shulker Armor (Upgrade Core - Void, 20 armor, 3.0 toughness, 0.2 knockback resistance per piece). Sturdy Shulker removes the Levitation effect the moment it is applied and spawns homing Shulker Bullets directed at attackers when you take damage. Both are classified as Epic-tier loot.
Dark Armor and Titan's Shroud

Full Metal Chestplate

Plate Armor reduces movement speed by 3.75% and Full Metal and Cauldron Armor reduce it by 2.5%. The speed loss compounds over extended exploration. Stalwart Armor offers 18 armor and 1.0 toughness with Resistance I and no movement penalty, making it a strong alternative for players who need mobility alongside defense.
Undead, Nature, and Special Armor Sets
Grim Armor, Wither Armor, and Gourdian Armor
Grim Armor (Bones + Bone Rib Cage + Skeleton Skull + Leather, 14 armor, +3.75% attack damage) is the undead foundation set. Wither Armor (Upgrade Core - Wither, 18 armor, +3.75% attack damage) applies a 6-second Wither effect to any enemy that hits you, making every melee trade cost the attacker sustained poison damage. Gourdian Armor (Upgrade Core - Soul, 18 armor, +3.75% attack damage) gives a 15% chance on kill to gain Strength II for 10 seconds.
Turtle Armor and Nimble Turtle Armor
Turtle Armor (Scute + Leather, 14 armor) is crafted from Scute dropped by Baby Turtles maturing. Nimble Turtle Armor (Upgrade Core - Oceanic, 18 armor) upgrades this to provide Resistance II and Regeneration II on any hit received for 3 seconds, creating a strong reactive healing loop in sustained combat.
Squid Armor and Glow Squid Armor
Squid Armor (Leather + Ink Sac, 10 armor) is a light ink-themed set. Glow Squid Armor (Upgrade Core - Oceanic, 14 armor) provides Water Breathing while the player is submerged, which is especially useful for ocean monument exploration or underwater builds.
Sprout Armor, Living Vines Armor, and Piglin Armor
Sprout Armor (Twisting Vines + Nether Sprouts, 9 armor) and Living Vines Armor (Weeping Vines + Nether Wart, 9 armor) both grant Fire Resistance and disable the fire overlay on screen, making them excellent choices for Nether traversal or Blaze combat. Piglin Armor (Brown + Black Bolts + Bone, 10 armor) upgrades to Golden Piglin Armor (Upgrade Core - Golden), which prevents standard Piglins from attacking on sight (Piglin Brutes still attack).
Snow Armor, Frost Armor, and Hungry Horror
Snow Armor (Snow Blocks + Iron Armor, 18 armor, 2.0 toughness) is a solid mid-tier set found in Village Blacksmith chests. Frost Armor (Upgrade Core - Frost, 18 armor, 2.0 toughness) converts water around the player into Frosted Ice and lava into Crying Obsidian on contact. Hungry Horror Armor (Upgrade Core - Glut using the Glut Charm, 18 armor, 2.0 toughness, +5% attack damage, +6.25% movement speed) inflicts Hunger II on the wearer but scales Strength based on how hungry the player becomes.
Sweet Tooth Armor
Sweet Tooth Armor (Diamond + Cake pieces, 15 armor) is one of the most unusual sets in the mod. Its crafting recipe consumes multiple Cakes and Diamonds, making it resource-intensive for its tier. It is categorized as an Uncommon loot find in chests as well.
Mystery Armor
Five Mystery Armor variants exist: White (Quartz Gem), Red (Redstone Gem), Green (Emerald Gem), Purple (Amethyst Gem), and Blue (Lapis Lazuli Gem). All five share 20 total armor and 1.5 toughness. Each piece applies random status effects from a color-specific pool while worn, and the effects change dynamically between uses, making every piece unpredictable in combat.
Gemstones can be crafted (8x material + 1 Netherite Ingot) or obtained from Piglin bartering at a 1% chance. Mystery Armor pieces also appear as loot in Bastion Remnants, Nether Fortresses, Sunken Ships, and Abandoned Mineshafts, making them one of the more obtainable high-armor sets without crafting.
Gemstones for Mystery Armor

Finding Armor in the World
Most armor sets appear in vanilla loot chests without crafting. The mod uses a tiered loot system that organizes sets into Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic pools distributed across appropriate structures.
Common Loot
Battle Robe, Beenest Armor, Climbing Gear, Evocation Robe, Ghostly Armor, Hunter's Vest, Scale Mail, Snow Armor, Soul Robe, Spelunker Armor, Squid Armor, Vanguard Armor, and Wolf Armor appear in dungeons, abandoned mineshafts, desert temples, and shipwrecks.
Uncommon Loot
Champion's Armor, Emerald Gear, Entertainer's Garb, Goat Gear, Grim Armor, Guard's Armor, Mercenary Armor, Ocelot Armor, Phantom Armor, Piglin Armor, Plate Armor, Reinforced Mail, Sweet Tooth Armor, Teleportation Robe, Thief Armor, and Turtle Armor appear in villages, jungle temples, and mid-tier chests.
Rare and Epic Loot
Rare sets include Splendid Robe, Beehive Armor, Rugged Climbing Gear, Dark Armor, Troubadour, Ember Robe, Verdant Robe, Ghost Kindler, Wither Armor, Archer's Armor, Renegade, Golden Piglin, Stalwart, Highland, Frost Armor, Souldancer Robe, Cave Crawler, Glow Squid, Spider Armor, Black Wolf, and Fox Armor. Epic sets include Hero's Armor, Titan's Shroud, Royal Guard, Gilded Glory, Opulent, Gourdian, Curious, Hungry Horror, all Mystery variants, Shadow Walker, Frost Bite, Full Metal, Cauldron, Shulker, Sturdy Shulker, Unstable Robe, Nimble Turtle, and Arctic Fox Armor.
Location-Specific Loot
Pillager Outpost chests specifically contain Dark, Thief, Royal Guard, and Titan's Shroud armor. Bastion Remnant chests hold all five Mystery armor variants plus Ghostly and Ghost Kindler sets. Nether Fortress chests drop Mystery variants, Grim, and Vanguard armor. Village Blacksmith chests contain Plate, Full Metal, Snow, Wolf, Fox, Reinforced Mail, and Stalwart sets. Stronghold loot includes Teleportation and Unstable Robes. Hero of the Village gift loot contains Hero's Armor and Gilded Glory.
Evocation Robes also drop directly from Evokers during Raids at 20% base chance. Champion's Armor is the only set without a loot table or crafting recipe: it requires purchasing from a Master Armorer Villager for 64 Emeralds per piece.
Custom Enchantments
MC Dungeons Armors adds 18 custom enchantments applicable to armor items. These cover reactive combat effects, passive survival utilities, and high-risk damage trades that vanilla enchantments do not.
Reaction Enchantments
Burning sets attackers on fire for 3 seconds per enchantment level when they hit you. Chilling applies Slowness and Mining Fatigue to attackers on hit, scaling with level. Deflect gives up to a 60% chance at max level that incoming arrows deal half damage. Heal Allies heals nearby Villagers, golems, pets, and other players when any of them takes damage. Snowball auto-triggers magical knockback when multiple enemies attack you simultaneously.
Passive and Active Enchantments
Bag of Souls increases experience gained from kills per enchantment level. Fire Trail (Boots) creates a fire trail behind you while moving, toggled off while sneaking. Swiftfooted (Boots) grants a Speed boost on jump. Potion Barrier grants Resistance after drinking a healing potion. Lucky Explorer provides Luck-based bonuses. Recycler provides up to a 30% chance to recover arrows fired at you at max level.
High-Risk Enchantments
Death Barter prevents death by consuming Emeralds: Level I costs 150 Emeralds, Level II costs 75, Level III costs 50 per trigger. Reckless reduces your maximum health by 60% but grants proportional Strength, a punishing trade-off that rewards near-one-shot offensive play. Frenzied grants Haste when health drops below 50%. Cowardice grants Strength when at full health. Burning and Chilling cannot be applied to the same armor piece.
Potion and Food Enchantments
Food Reserves replenishes food when drinking a healing potion. Surprise Gift provides random additional potions alongside healing potion effects. Frenzied and Potion Barrier together create a reactive loop: Potion Barrier grants Resistance after you heal, and Frenzied grants Haste once your health dips back below 50%, rewarding aggressive potion consumption.
Death Barter Level III is the most cost-effective tier at 50 Emeralds per prevented death. It does not activate if your Emerald supply runs out mid-combat, so maintain a reserve of at least 150 Emeralds when exploring dangerous areas. A dedicated Villager trading hall for Emerald income makes this enchantment sustainable long-term.
Configuration
The mod generates several configuration files on first launch. The mcda_armor_stats.json5 file controls protection values, toughness, knockback resistance, attack damage boosts, movement speed boosts, and durability multipliers for every armor set. The mcda_enable_armors.json5 file can enable or disable individual armor sets, removing them from crafting and loot tables. The mcda_enable_enchant_and_effect.json5 file toggles specific armor set effects and enchantments.
The mcda_item_drops.json5 file adjusts pelt drop rates, the number of loot table rolls per kill, and the drop chance bonus per Looting enchantment level. The mcda_loot_tables.json5 file controls the global find-armor-in-chest probability, whether the tiered loot system is active, and which loot tables are included in each rarity tier. Deleting a config file causes it to regenerate with default values on next launch.
FAQ
Can I find armor without crafting it?
Yes. Most armor sets appear in vanilla loot chests throughout the world using the mod's tiered distribution system. Champion's Armor is the only exception: it has no crafting recipe and no loot table entry. The only way to obtain Champion's Armor is by purchasing it from a Master Armorer Villager for 64 Emeralds per piece.
Do I need the full set to activate set bonuses?
For most active set bonuses, yes. Wall climbing (Spider Armor), Invisibility while sneaking (Thief Armor), the 30% dodge chance (Souldancer Robe), bee summoning (Beenest/Beehive), and similar effects all require the complete set. Passive stat bonuses like attack damage and movement speed apply proportionally per piece, so wearing two out of four pieces still grants half the stat bonus.
What is the difference between Teleportation Robe and Unstable Robe?
Teleportation Robe triggers Enderman-style random teleportation on a sneak-jump. The Unstable Robe is the Upgrade Core - Void upgrade of the Teleportation Robe. It can be configured in the mod's config file to use either controlled directional teleportation or random teleportation, and additionally produces an explosive effect when teleporting. Both can be found in Stronghold library and corridor chests.
How do I get Frost Crystals?
Break Blue Ice blocks without using Silk Touch. Each Blue Ice block has a 20% chance to drop a Frost Crystal. Frozen Ocean biomes are the most efficient source, as Blue Ice generates in large flat formations on icebergs and ocean floors there. Do not use a Silk Touch pickaxe since it suppresses the drop entirely.
Why isn't my armor set bonus activating?
First confirm you are wearing all pieces of the set, including any unusual slots. Some effects have additional conditions: Cave Crawler's Haste only activates below Y-level 32, Highland Armor's Haste only activates above Y-level 100, and Renegade Armor's Strength III only activates while sprinting. Also check the mcda_enable_enchant_and_effect.json5 config file to confirm the specific effect is set to enabled.
Can MCDA armor be used with Cosmetic Armor Reworked?
Yes. The mod includes armor tags for Cosmetic Armor Reworked compatibility, allowing the mod's armor to be displayed in the cosmetic slot while wearing different armor for stats underneath, or to wear MCDA sets for their bonuses while displaying a different appearance. This compatibility was specifically added in an early update.
