Immersive Machinery Mod Guide: Tunnel Digger, Copper Fin, Redstone Sheep & Bamboo Bee
Immersive Machinery adds four purpose-built machines as a companion to Immersive Aircraft: the Tunnel Digger for automated 3x3 mining, the Copper Fin submarine for underwater exploration, the Redstone Sheep for autonomous crop harvesting, and the Bamboo Bee drone for item transport. Each machine is designed to handle a specific repetitive task while blending naturally into vanilla Minecraft.
Overview
Immersive Machinery gives players four autonomous machines that tackle the most repetitive parts of a Minecraft playthrough. The
Tunnel Digger handles bulk mining, the
Copper Fin opens up underwater exploration, the
Redstone Sheep farms crops without supervision, and the
Bamboo Bee shuttles items between containers automatically. All four share the same rustic copper-and-iron aesthetic, fitting naturally alongside vanilla builds without clashing with the game's visual style.
Each machine functions as a deployable entity rather than a traditional placed block. Right-clicking the crafted item on the ground or water surface spawns the machine in the world, where it can be mounted, programmed, or left to operate on its own. Browse all items and recipes using the tabs above.
Prerequisites
Immersive Machinery requires Immersive Aircraft as a mandatory dependency. All four machines use components from Immersive Aircraft's crafting system: the Engine, Propeller, Boiler, Hull, and Quadrocopter must all be crafted before any Immersive Machinery machine can be assembled. The Boiler requires 7 Copper Ingots and 1 Furnace. The Engine requires 3 Cobblestone, 2 Pistons, 1 Blast Furnace, and 1 Boiler. The Propeller requires 5 Iron Ingots.
This shared component system also means the
Tunnel Digger and
Copper Fin can accept Engine upgrade items from Immersive Aircraft, improving their speed and efficiency. Landing gear upgrades from Immersive Aircraft do not apply to ground or water machines.
Getting Started
- 1
Build the core components from Immersive Aircraft
Craft a Boiler from 7 Copper Ingots and a Furnace, then use it to build an Engine with 3 Cobblestone, 2 Pistons, and a Blast Furnace. Craft a Propeller from 5 Iron Ingots. These three components are needed across all four machines.
- 2
Craft the Redstone Mechanism
The
Redstone Mechanism is a shared crafting ingredient for both the
Redstone Sheep and the
Bamboo Bee. Combine a Comparator, Redstone Dust, Copper Ingot, Redstone Torch, Repeater, and Iron Ingot in a shapeless crafting recipe. Craft several if planning to build both machines. - 3
Choose the machine that fits your current need
For early automation, the
Redstone Sheep handles crop farming with no ongoing input. The
Bamboo Bee solves item routing between chests. The
Copper Fin is a quality-of-life upgrade for ocean exploration. The
Tunnel Digger becomes essential for large mining operations where digging by hand is impractical. - 4
Deploy the machine by right-clicking it on the ground or water
Each machine spawns as a rideable entity when its item is right-clicked on a valid surface. The
Tunnel Digger and
Redstone Sheep deploy on solid ground. The
Copper Fin deploys on a water surface. The
Bamboo Bee can be placed on any surface and will fly autonomously once configured. - 5
Upgrade the Tunnel Digger with Amethyst Shards for better performance
Once Amethyst Shards are available, load them into the
Tunnel Digger's dedicated shard slot to double its drilling speed. Shards are gradually consumed during operation, with harder blocks depleting them faster than Stone or Dirt. Also upgrade the
Iron Drill to Diamond or Netherite at a Smithing Table for even greater performance.
Tunnel Digger
The
Tunnel Digger is a large, slow ground vehicle built for bulk mining. Mount it by right-clicking, then drive forward with the standard movement keys to bore a 3x3 tunnel through any terrain, collecting every mined block directly into its 87-slot internal inventory. The machine snaps to 90-degree compass headings automatically when not turning, so tunnels stay straight with minimal effort.
Press Space to angle the drill upward or Shift+Space to angle it downward, controlling the tunnel's vertical direction on the fly. Use the Horn keybind to toggle the drill on or off without dismounting, useful when navigating through pre-existing tunnels. The
Tunnel Digger's GUI also provides a drill direction button for mouse-based control.
The
Iron Drill is the base version required to assemble the
Tunnel Digger. Upgrading to Diamond or Netherite at a Smithing Table increases block destruction speed. Loading the shard slot with Amethyst Shards doubles drilling speed on top of the drill tier bonus, with each shard having a chance to be consumed proportional to the hardness of blocks mined.

Copper Fin
The
Copper Fin is a compact submarine powered by a Conduit, which provides unlimited air supply to any passenger aboard. Water vision is substantially improved while riding, with underwater clarity is always at least 75% of surface visibility, regardless of depth or water type. Ocean Monument raids, deep-sea cave exploration, and underwater construction projects all become far more manageable without the constant threat of drowning.
The
Copper Fin can only propel itself while fully submerged. Once it surfaces, it loses all drive and floats until it submerges again. Steering is handled by the standard look-and-move controls, with the vehicle tilting to reflect pitch and roll during movement. A hatch-close sound plays when mounting and a hatch-open sound when dismounting, adding to the immersive feel.
Press H (the Horn keybind) or click the Sonar button in the
Copper Fin's GUI to activate the sonar. The pulse applies the Glowing effect to every living entity within 48 blocks for 1.5 seconds (30 ticks), revealing mob locations through terrain. The sonar has a 3-second (60-tick) cooldown between uses.
Copper Fin

The
Copper Fin loses propulsion the moment it is no longer fully submerged. Plan entry and exit points along the waterline carefully, especially in shallow areas where the submarine may accidentally surface mid-navigation.
Redstone Sheep
The
Redstone Sheep is an autonomous crop harvester that operates without any player involvement after initial placement. It scans the surrounding area up to 5 blocks horizontally from its home position for mature crops, harvests the drops, and resets each plant to age 0 to replant in place. The machine recognizes Wheat, Carrots, Potatoes, Beetroot, Nether Wart, Cocoa Beans, and Pitcher Crops natively, as well as Grass blocks by default configuration.
The
Redstone Sheep stores harvested items in its 15-slot inventory. When the inventory fills or the machine runs low on fuel, it navigates back to its home position and waits to be unloaded and refueled. It resumes scanning automatically once recharged. Place it at the center of a crop field for the most even coverage across all four directions.
The configuration file allows adjusting the horizontal scan range beyond the default 5 blocks, the fuel cost per harvest (default 20 ticks), and which crop types are considered valid targets. Custom mod crops can be added or excluded via the `validCrops` map in the config.

Bamboo Bee
The
Bamboo Bee is a programmable transport drone built from a modified Quadrocopter. It flies autonomously between designated containers, moving one stack of items at a time from a source chest to a destination chest. Setting it up requires a specific interaction sequence: Sneak+Right-click a container once to mark it as an output (destination), then Sneak+Right-click another container to set it as an input (source). The Bee begins operating immediately once both positions are assigned.
Multiple input and output containers can be registered, allowing the
Bamboo Bee to distribute items across an entire storage network. Two distribution modes are available: Round Robin cycles through all output containers equally with each delivery, while Pick first always delivers to the first available output container that has space. The active mode is toggled in the Bamboo Bee's GUI.
An item filter slot controls which items the Bee will transport. By default the filter acts as a whitelist, moving only items that match the filter slot. Switch to blacklist mode in the GUI to block specified items instead. Enabling the Filter by NBT Tag option forces the Bee to treat enchanted and non-enchanted versions of the same item as distinct, preventing mixed stacks. Sneak+Right-click any non-container block to clear all registered positions and reset the Bee completely.
Bamboo Bee

The
Bamboo Bee saves its configured container routes into the item when broken or picked up. Redeploying the item restores all previously assigned input and output positions, so the Bee can be relocated without losing its setup.
FAQ
Does Immersive Machinery work without Immersive Aircraft installed?
No. Immersive Aircraft is a required dependency and the game will not load without it. The Engine, Propeller, Boiler, Hull, and Quadrocopter all come from Immersive Aircraft and are needed to craft Immersive Machinery's four machines.
Can the Tunnel Digger mine Obsidian or other hard blocks?
Yes, the
Tunnel Digger can mine any block, but harder blocks like Obsidian consume more drill power per operation and deplete Amethyst Shards faster. Upgrading to a
Netherite Drill and keeping the shard slot loaded makes hard-block mining significantly more efficient.
Why is my Redstone Sheep not harvesting any crops?
The
Redstone Sheep only scans within 5 blocks of its home position (the block it was placed on). Crops outside that radius are ignored. Additionally, the Sheep only rescans when a player is within 32 blocks, so it will appear idle if no one is nearby. The scan range can be increased in the config file via the redstoneSheepMinHorizontalScanRange setting.
How do I reset the Bamboo Bee's container links?
Sneak+Right-click any non-container block (such as Stone or Wood) while holding nothing to clear all registered input and output positions. The Bee will display a confirmation message and stop operating until new containers are assigned.
Can the Copper Fin be upgraded to move faster?
Yes. The
Copper Fin accepts Engine upgrade modules from Immersive Aircraft, which improve its speed and handling underwater. Landing gear upgrades from Immersive Aircraft are not compatible and will not apply.
What happens if the Tunnel Digger's inventory fills up completely?
Items that cannot fit into the 87-slot inventory are dropped into the world at the
Tunnel Digger's location. During long mining runs, open the GUI periodically to transfer items to your own inventory or a connected chest before the storage fills.
