AE Infinity Booster Guide: Unlimited Wireless Range for Applied Energistics 2
AE Infinity Booster adds two powerful upgrade cards to Applied Energistics 2 that remove wireless range limitations entirely. The Infinity Card grants unlimited range within a single dimension, while the Dimension Card lets you access your ME system from anywhere, even across dimensions like the Nether and End.
Overview
AE Infinity Booster is a small but essential addon for Applied Energistics 2 that solves one of AE2's most common frustrations: limited wireless range. The mod adds exactly two items, the Infinity Card and the
Dimension Card, both of which slot into the Wireless Access Point's booster slot. With these cards installed, your Wireless Terminals can connect to your ME system from anywhere in your world or even across dimensions.
You can browse both items and their crafting recipes using the tabs at the top of this page. This guide covers how the cards work, what you need to craft them, and how to set everything up correctly.
Prerequisites
This mod is an addon for Applied Energistics 2 and requires a working AE2 installation. Before you can use either card, you need an established ME network with at least one Wireless Access Point placed and connected to your network. You should also have a Wireless Terminal (or Wireless Crafting Terminal) ready to use. The crafting recipes require AE2's Wireless Booster items, so make sure you have access to AE2's Inscriber and can produce those.
The recipes also call for expensive vanilla materials including Nether Stars and Netherite Ingots, so you will need to have defeated the Wither at least once and done some Ancient Debris mining before crafting these cards.
Getting Started
- 1
Set Up Your ME Network
Make sure you have a functioning ME network with an ME Controller, power, and storage. If you haven't already, place a Wireless Access Point connected to your network with an ME Cable. The Wireless Access Point is the block that broadcasts the wireless signal to your terminals.
- 2
Gather the Materials
For the Infinity Card, you need 3 Wireless Boosters (from AE2), 2 Ender Eyes, 1 Nether Star, and 3 Netherite Ingots. The Wireless Boosters are crafted within AE2 using Fluix Dust, Ender Dust, and Iron Ingots. The Nether Star drops from the Wither boss.
- 3
Craft the Infinity Card
Craft the Infinity Card on a Crafting Table using the recipe shown below. This card alone gives you unlimited wireless range within the same dimension. For most players, this is all you need.
- 4
Install the Card in the Wireless Access Point
Open your Wireless Access Point's GUI and place the Infinity Card (or
Dimension Card) into the booster slot. This is the same slot where you would normally place regular Wireless Boosters from AE2. The card replaces stacking Wireless Boosters entirely, giving you infinite range in a single slot. - 5
Use Your Wireless Terminal Anywhere
With the card installed, simply use your Wireless Terminal from anywhere. If you installed the Infinity Card, it works anywhere in the same dimension. If you installed the
Dimension Card, it works across all dimensions, so you can access your Overworld ME system from the Nether or End.
The Infinity Card
The Infinity Card is the first tier of booster card. When placed in a Wireless Access Point's booster slot, it sets the access point's range to effectively infinite within the same dimension. You can be thousands of blocks away from your base and still open your Wireless Terminal to access your ME storage, request crafting jobs, and manage your network.
Technically, the card works by setting the Wireless Access Point's broadcast range to the maximum possible value (Long.MAX_VALUE). The card is non-stackable, so you only need one per Wireless Access Point. The limitation is that both you and the access point must be in the same dimension for the connection to work.
Infinity Card Recipe

You only need one Infinity Card or
Dimension Card per Wireless Access Point. Unlike regular Wireless Boosters which you stack for incremental range increases, a single card gives you maximum range immediately. If you have multiple Wireless Access Points on your network, only the one with the card installed needs it.
The Dimension Card
The
Dimension Card is the upgraded version of the Infinity Card. It does everything the Infinity Card does, but also allows cross-dimension access. With a Dimension Card installed in your Wireless Access Point, you can open your Wireless Terminal from the Nether, the End, or any modded dimension and still connect back to your ME network.
The
Dimension Card has an enchantment glint effect to visually distinguish it from the regular Infinity Card. It is significantly more expensive to craft, requiring four Infinity Cards as ingredients. This means you need four Nether Stars and twelve Netherite Ingots total (three per Infinity Card) just for the Infinity Card components, plus an additional Ender Eye and four more Nether Stars for the Dimension Card recipe itself.
Dimension Card Recipe

Cross-dimension access only works if the chunks containing your ME network and Wireless Access Point are loaded. If you are in the Nether and your Overworld base is unloaded, the connection will fail. Use a chunk loader (from AE2 itself or another mod) to keep your network's chunks active when you leave the dimension.
Card Comparison
| Infinity Card | Dimension Card | |
|---|---|---|
| Same-Dimension Range | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Cross-Dimension | No | Yes |
| Stackable | No (1 per slot) | No (1 per slot) |
| Enchantment Glint | No | Yes |
| Nether Stars Required | 1 | 8 total |
| Netherite Ingots Required | 3 | 12 total |
| Wireless Boosters Required | 3 | 12 total |
How It Works Technically
The mod works by modifying AE2's Wireless Access Point behavior through Mixins. When you place either card in the booster slot, the Wireless Access Point's range is set to the maximum Long value, effectively making it infinite. The mod also modifies the Wireless Access Point's input filter so it accepts the custom cards in addition to regular Wireless Boosters.
For the
Dimension Card specifically, when a Wireless Terminal tries to calculate the distance to a Wireless Access Point, the mod intercepts that check and allows the connection even when the player is in a different dimension. Both cards work with any wireless device that connects through AE2's standard Wireless Access Point system, including the Wireless Terminal, Wireless Crafting Terminal, and any addon terminals that use AE2's wireless infrastructure.
Both cards work with any device that uses AE2's Wireless Access Point for connectivity. This includes the standard Wireless Terminal, Wireless Crafting Terminal, and terminals from other AE2 addons like AE2 Wireless Terminal Library (AE2WTLib). If the device connects through a Wireless Access Point, the Infinity Booster cards will extend its range.
FAQ
Do I need one card per Wireless Terminal, or one per Wireless Access Point?
One card per Wireless Access Point. The card goes into the access point's booster slot (on the block itself), not into the terminal. All Wireless Terminals on your network will benefit from the upgraded range as long as they connect through that access point.
Can I use the Infinity Card and Dimension Card together?
No, the Wireless Access Point's booster slot holds only one item. However, the
Dimension Card already includes all the functionality of the Infinity Card (unlimited same-dimension range) plus adds cross-dimension support. There is no reason to use both.
Does the Dimension Card work with modded dimensions?
Yes. The
Dimension Card works by comparing dimension IDs. Any dimension registered in the game, whether vanilla (Overworld, Nether, End) or added by mods, will work with the cross-dimension feature as long as the chunks containing your ME network are loaded.
Why can't I connect even with the card installed?
The most common cause is that your ME network's chunks are not loaded. The Wireless Access Point must be in a loaded chunk to broadcast. If you are in another dimension, make sure you have a chunk loader keeping your base active. Also verify that your ME network has power and the Wireless Access Point is properly connected to your network with ME Cables.
Does this mod increase power consumption on the ME network?
The mod itself does not add any additional power draw beyond what AE2 normally uses for a Wireless Access Point. However, keep in mind that a standard Wireless Access Point does consume AE energy based on its configured range in vanilla AE2. With the Infinity Booster, the range value is set extremely high, which could affect power draw depending on how AE2 calculates it in your version. Monitor your network's energy usage after installing the card.
Is this mod available for Fabric?
