AE2WTLib

Adds Wireless versions of ae2 Terminals with infinite range capabilities.

AE2WTLib Mod Guide: Wireless Terminals, Infinity Booster & Magnet Card

AE2WTLib extends Applied Energistics 2 with wireless versions of its Pattern Encoding and Pattern Access Terminals, plus a Universal Terminal that combines all wireless terminals into a single item. With the Infinity Booster Card, your terminals gain unlimited range across dimensions.

Overview

AE2WTLib is an addon for Applied Energistics 2 that solves one of the biggest quality-of-life pain points in AE2: terminal access. Instead of running back to your ME system every time you need to check storage, craft something, or set up patterns, AE2WTLib gives you wireless versions of the Pattern Encoding Terminal and Pattern Access Terminal. It also introduces the Wireless Universal Terminal, which combines all your wireless terminals into a single item with enhanced battery capacity and charge speed.

The mod also adds two powerful upgrade cards. The Infinity Booster Card removes the range limit on wireless terminals entirely, letting you access your ME system from anywhere in any dimension. The Magnet Card automatically picks up nearby items and can route them directly into your ME network. You can browse all items and recipes this mod adds using the tabs at the top of this page.

Prerequisites

AE2WTLib is an addon for Applied Energistics 2 and requires a working ME system before any of its items become useful. You need at minimum an ME Controller (or ad-hoc network), a Security Terminal or ME Wireless Access Point, and a functioning power supply. You should also have access to Dense Energy Cells, Wireless Receivers, and Engineering Processors, as these are key crafting components. If you haven't set up basic AE2 infrastructure yet, do that first.

Getting Started

  1. 1

Craft a Wireless Pattern Encoding Terminal

The Wireless Pattern Encoding Terminal is crafted with a Wireless Receiver, a Pattern Encoding Terminal, and a Dense Energy Cell in a Crafting Table. This gives you wireless access to pattern encoding from anywhere within your Wireless Access Point's range. Link it to your ME network using a Security Terminal, just like the vanilla AE2 Wireless Crafting Terminal.

  2. 2

Craft a Wireless Pattern Access Terminal

Similarly, the Wireless Pattern Access Terminal combines a Wireless Receiver, Pattern Access Terminal, and Dense Energy Cell. This lets you wirelessly view and manage all the patterns stored across your ME system's Molecular Assemblers and Pattern Providers without standing next to them.

  3. 3

    Create the Wireless Universal Terminal

Rather than carrying three separate wireless terminals, combine any two wireless terminals together in a Crafting Table to create a Wireless Universal Terminal. You can then upgrade it further by placing it back in the Crafting Table with an additional wireless terminal to add that terminal's functionality. The WUT has 3x the battery capacity and 30x the charge rate of a standard wireless terminal.

  4. 4

    Add an Infinity Booster Card

Craft an Infinity Booster Card using Fluix Pearls and a Wireless Receiver. Insert it into any wireless terminal's upgrade slot to remove the range limitation entirely. With this card installed, your terminal works from any distance and even across dimensions. It does consume extra power when used out of normal range, so make sure your terminal stays charged.

  5. 5

    Install a Magnet Card

The Magnet Card goes into the Wireless Crafting Terminal (or a Universal Terminal with crafting capability) and automatically picks up items within a 16-block radius. You can cycle between three modes: off, pickup to inventory, and pickup directly to ME storage. The magnet only activates when you are not sneaking.

Wireless Terminals

AE2WTLib adds two new standalone wireless terminals on top of AE2's built-in Wireless Crafting Terminal. Each one mirrors the functionality of its wired counterpart but can be used anywhere within range of your Wireless Access Points.

Wireless Pattern Encoding Terminal

The Wireless Pattern Encoding Terminal lets you create and edit crafting, processing, and Smithing Table patterns without standing at a wired terminal. This is especially useful when you are setting up complex autocrafting chains and need to frequently encode new patterns. It has the same battery capacity as a standard AE2 Wireless Terminal. You can also craft it by combining a Wireless Crafting Terminal with an Engineering Processor in a shapeless recipe.

Wireless Pattern Access Terminal

The Wireless Pattern Access Terminal provides wireless access to all patterns across your ME network. You can view, search, and manage patterns stored in Pattern Providers and Molecular Assemblers from anywhere. This saves significant time when reorganizing or troubleshooting autocrafting setups.

The Wireless Universal Terminal

The Wireless Universal Terminal (WUT) is the centerpiece of AE2WTLib. Instead of cluttering your inventory with multiple wireless terminals, the WUT combines all of them into a single item. It starts by combining any two wireless terminals in a Crafting Table, and you can upgrade it further by placing it alongside another wireless terminal to absorb that terminal's functionality.

The WUT comes with significant stat boosts to justify being a combined device. It has 3x the battery capacity of a standard wireless terminal, so it lasts much longer between charges. Its charge rate is 30x faster than normal, meaning it recharges almost instantly in a Charger. You can cycle between the different terminal modes by using the cycle button in the terminal's GUI.

Combining Terminals

When you combine terminals into a Wireless Universal Terminal, all stored data (linked ME network, power level, View Cells) transfers over from the input terminals. You don't need to re-link your WUT to the Security Terminal after combining.

Infinity Booster Card

By default, AE2 wireless terminals only work within range of your Wireless Access Points. The Infinity Booster Card completely removes this limitation. Once installed in a terminal's card slot, you can access your ME system from any location in any dimension, whether you are mining in the Nether, exploring the End, or thousands of blocks away in the Overworld.

The tradeoff is power consumption. When you use a terminal outside the normal range of your Wireless Access Points, the Infinity Booster Card draws extra power based on the configured out-of-range power multiplier (2x by default). Keep your terminal charged or consider the WUT's 3x battery size to ensure uninterrupted access during long expeditions.

Power Drain

The Infinity Booster Card's out-of-range power drain is calculated based on the maximum range of a fully upgraded Wireless Access Point. If your terminal runs out of power while you are far from your base, you will lose access until you return to recharge it. The Wireless Universal Terminal's 3x battery capacity helps mitigate this.

Magnet Card

The Magnet Card is a utility upgrade for the Wireless Crafting Terminal (or any Universal Terminal that includes crafting functionality). When installed, it automatically pulls dropped items toward you within a configurable range of 16 blocks by default. The magnet has three operating modes that you can cycle through with a hotkey.

In Pickup to Inventory mode, items are collected into your player inventory as if you walked over them. In Pickup to ME mode, items are routed directly into your ME network's storage, keeping your inventory clean. The magnet only functions when you are not sneaking, so you can hold Shift to temporarily disable it when you need precise item placement or don't want to pick something up.

Restock Feature

AE2WTLib adds an automatic restocking feature to all wireless terminals with crafting capability. When enabled via the toggle button in the terminal GUI, the restock system monitors your hotbar and automatically pulls replacement items from your ME network whenever a stack runs low. For example, if you are placing Torches and your stack empties, the restock system pulls more Torches from your ME storage without you needing to open the terminal.

Restocking only works while your terminal is connected to the ME network, so you need either to be within Wireless Access Point range or have an Infinity Booster Card installed. The restock overlay on your hotbar shows how many of each item are available in your ME storage, giving you a quick visual reference for your supplies.

Restock Indicator

When restock is enabled, you will see a small overlay on each hotbar slot showing the total available count from your ME system. This lets you know at a glance whether your ME network has backup stock of what you are carrying.

Trinkets Integration

If you have the Trinkets mod installed alongside AE2WTLib, you can equip wireless terminals in a Trinket slot instead of keeping them in your inventory. This frees up an inventory slot while still giving you full terminal functionality. The mod automatically detects Trinkets and adds a compatible slot. Trinket support can be disabled in the config file if you prefer to keep terminals in your regular inventory.

Configuration

AE2WTLib's configuration file lets you tune several important values. The WUT charge rate multiplier defaults to 30x and controls how fast the Universal Terminal charges in a Charger. The WUT battery size multiplier defaults to 3x, giving the Universal Terminal triple the power storage of a standard wireless terminal. The out-of-range power multiplier (default 2x) determines how much extra power the Infinity Booster Card consumes when operating outside normal Wireless Access Point range.

The Magnet Card range defaults to 16 blocks and can be adjusted to pull items from a larger or smaller area. Finally, the Trinket integration can be toggled on or off with the enableTrinket option, which defaults to true when the Trinkets mod is present.

FAQ

Does the Infinity Booster Card work across dimensions?

Yes. The Infinity Booster Card completely bypasses the normal range check, including the dimension check. You can access your ME system from the Nether, the End, or any modded dimension as long as your terminal has power.

Can I put all three terminal types into one Universal Terminal?

Yes. Start by combining any two wireless terminals (Crafting, Pattern Encoding, or Pattern Access) in a Crafting Table to create the WUT. Then place the WUT back in a Crafting Table with the third terminal to upgrade it. The tooltip shows which terminals are currently installed.

How do I switch between terminal modes on the Universal Terminal?

Open the Universal Terminal and click the cycle button in the GUI. This rotates through all installed terminal types. The terminal remembers which mode you were last using.

Why is my Magnet Card not picking up items?

Check three things: the Magnet Card must be installed in a Wireless Crafting Terminal or a WUT that includes crafting, the magnet mode must not be set to Off (cycle it with the hotkey), and you must not be sneaking. The magnet disables while you hold Shift.

Does restocking work with the Infinity Booster Card?

Yes. As long as your terminal is connected to the ME network (either within Wireless Access Point range or via the Infinity Booster Card), the restock feature will pull items from your ME storage to refill your hotbar stacks automatically.

Can I use the wireless terminals in a Trinket slot?

Yes, if you have the Trinkets mod installed and the enableTrinket option is set to true in AE2WTLib's config (it is enabled by default). This lets you equip terminals in a Trinket slot, freeing up inventory space.
