Aquamirae

Ship graveyard with terrible deep sea creatures.

Aquamirae Mod Guide: Ship Graveyards, Deep Sea Bosses & Abyssal Equipment

Aquamirae transforms ocean exploration with a haunting Ship Graveyard filled with terrifying deep sea creatures, powerful bosses, and unique equipment. The mod adds three full armor sets, nine distinctive weapons, custom food recipes, and a multi-tiered progression from scavenging bones on the ocean floor to wielding Abyssal-tier gear forged from the depths.

Overview

Aquamirae adds a sprawling underwater Ship Graveyard biome and a frozen Ice Maze structure filled with hostile deep sea creatures, three boss encounters, and a full progression of equipment. The mod centers around exploring sunken ships, fighting aquatic horrors, and forging increasingly powerful gear from the materials you salvage. You can browse every item and recipe the mod adds using the tabs at the top of this page.

The progression moves through three distinct tiers of equipment. You start by crafting basic weapons from Sharp Bones and Anglers Fangs found in the Ship Graveyard, then build the Three Bolt diving suit for extended underwater exploration, and finally forge Abyssal-tier gear using rare Abyssal Amethysts and Netherite. Along the way you will face Anglerfish, Maws, Tortured Souls, and eventually the Ghost of Captain Cornelia herself.

Getting Started

  1. 1

    Locate the Ship Graveyard

The Ship Graveyard is an ocean biome with a distinct atmosphere. Look for dark, deep ocean areas with ambient sounds and eerie particles. Bring basic Iron gear and plenty of food before venturing in. A Boat and Water Breathing Potions will help enormously in the early stages.

  2. 2

    Gather Ship Graveyard Echoes

Ship Graveyard Echoes are the core crafting material for almost everything in Aquamirae. They drop from mobs and can be found in loot throughout the biome. Collect as many as possible since you will need them for Abyssal Amethysts, weapons, and more.

  3. 3

    Craft Your First Weapon

The Remnants Saber is the easiest weapon to craft, requiring only Sharp Bones, Leather, and a Stick. It deals 5.0 damage with a 10% critical hit bonus. This is your stepping stone to better gear.

  4. 4

    Build the Terrible Armor Set

Once you have Anglers Fangs from defeated Anglerfish and Fins from various sea creatures, craft the Terrible Armor set. It provides 17 total armor points with useful per-piece bonuses: the Helmet grants +20% weapon power, the Chestplate +10%, the Leggings reduce cooldowns by 10%, and the Boots by 20%.

  5. 5

    Explore the Ice Maze

The Ice Maze is a massive frozen structure found within the Ship Graveyard biome. It contains Frozen Chests with valuable loot, hostile Tortured Souls, and the arenas where you can summon the mod's bosses. Bring a Shell Horn when you are ready to face Captain Cornelia.

The Ship Graveyard

The Ship Graveyard is the central biome added by Aquamirae. It generates in ocean regions as a dark, atmospheric area filled with sunken ship remains, underwater vegetation, and hostile creatures. The biome features its own ambient sounds and music, creating an immersive deep sea exploration experience. You can toggle the ambient sounds and biome music in the client config if you prefer a quieter experience.

Two types of underwater plants grow here. Elodea is a teal seagrass that can be harvested for Cyan Dye, while Wisteria Niveis is a decorative snow-white plant that yields Green Dye and serves as a brewing ingredient for the Potion of Tenacity. You will also find Oxygelium, a crucial utility material that can be placed underwater to create air pockets and can even be broken down into Sticks in a pinch.

Scattered throughout the biome are Frozen Chests, which cannot be broken or opened by normal means. You need a Frozen Key to unlock them. Using a Frozen Key on a Frozen Chest converts it into a regular Chest filled with randomized loot from the mod's loot table, accompanied by a satisfying unlocking sound and particle effects.

Ship Graveyard Echo Is Your Most Important Material

Ship Graveyard Echo is used in nearly every significant recipe in Aquamirae. It takes four Echoes and an Amethyst Shard to craft a single Abyssal Amethyst, and endgame weapons require multiple Echoes each. Hoard every Echo you find. Holding one in your hand occasionally triggers eerie ambient sounds from the graveyard.

Early Game Equipment

Your first priority in the Ship Graveyard is crafting a weapon and basic armor from the materials you scavenge. The early-game crafting materials are Sharp Bones, Anglers Fangs, Fins, and Ship Graveyard Echoes.

Remnants Saber

The Remnants Saber is the simplest weapon to craft, requiring just Sharp Bones, Leather, and a Stick. It deals 5.0 damage at 2.0 attack speed with a 10% critical hit chance bonus. With only 100 durability it will not last long, but it is easy to replace and gets you fighting immediately. Sharp Bones can also be broken down into Bone Meal, so keep a stockpile.

Poisoned Blade

Once you have collected Anglers Fangs from Anglerfish, the Poisoned Blade becomes available. It deals 5.0 damage at a fast 3.0 attack speed and applies Poison II to targets for 5 seconds on hit. The poison has a cooldown of 10 seconds between applications, but even without the proc the fast attack speed makes this an excellent early weapon with 500 durability.

Terrible Armor Set

The Terrible Armor is your first full set, crafted from Anglers Fangs, Fins, and Iron Ingots. It provides a total of 17 armor points with no toughness. Each piece grants a bonus when part of the Sea Wolf class system: the Helmet adds 20% weapon power, the Chestplate adds 10% weapon power, the Leggings reduce weapon cooldowns by 10%, and the Boots reduce cooldowns by 20%. The set also has halfset and fullset abilities that provide additional combat utility. With durability ranging from 275 to 400 per piece, it is comparable to Iron Armor but with stronger offensive bonuses.

Three Bolt Diving Armor

The Three Bolt Armor is a mid-game diving suit designed for extended underwater exploration. Crafted from Iron Blocks, Leather, and Oxygen Tanks, it provides a total of 20 armor points with 2.0 toughness and 0.1 knockback resistance. The durability is excellent, ranging from 825 to 1200 per piece, making it significantly more durable than the Terrible set.

The defining feature of this set is its oxygen system. The Suit (chestplate) works in tandem with the Helmet to restore your air supply while underwater. When your oxygen drops to half or below, the suit automatically restores 280 oxygen at a small durability cost. This lets you stay submerged far longer than Water Breathing Potions alone would allow. The Helmet also renders a custom blue underwater overlay on your screen, which can be toggled off in the client config.

You must first craft Oxygen Tanks as a component. Each tank requires nine Iron Ingots and Oxygelium arranged in a specific pattern. The Three Bolt set gives a 30% armor bonus when used with the Sea Wolf class, so it scales well into the mid-game.

Luminescent Bubbles for Underwater Lighting

Craft Luminescent Bubbles from Oxygelium and Esca to create floating underwater light sources. Each recipe yields 12 bubbles. When placed, they emit a light level of 14 (the maximum) and grant Night Vision to any player within 8 blocks who is submerged in water. Use them to illuminate the dark Ship Graveyard and Ice Maze corridors.

Creatures of the Deep

Aquamirae adds several hostile and ambient creatures to its biomes. Understanding their behaviors and stats is essential for survival, especially deeper in the Ice Maze.

Anglerfish

The Anglerfish is a large aquatic predator measuring 2.0 blocks wide and 2.6 blocks tall. It has 40 HP, 2 armor, and deals 6 damage per hit with Poison I applied for 5 seconds. With a swim speed of 3.0 and a detection range of 48 blocks, it will chase you aggressively through open water. Anglerfish are immune to fire and have a tiny chance (1 in 200) of spawning a Maze Mother when they appear naturally. They drop Anglers Fangs, Esca, and Fins, all of which are vital crafting materials.

Maw

Maws are smaller amphibious creatures (1.2 x 1.2 blocks) that can fight both in and out of water. They have 20 HP with no armor and deal 4 damage. Their swim speed of 5.0 makes them the fastest swimmers in the mod, and they have a leap attack that can catch you off guard on land. They are immune to suffocation, so they can chase you through tight spaces without getting stuck.

Tortured Soul

Tortured Souls are undead ghost-like entities found in the Ice Maze. They have 30 HP, 4 armor, and deal 7 damage per hit with 0.7 knockback. Their most dangerous ability is a charge-up spell that takes 200 ticks (10 seconds) to prepare. Once fully charged, they apply Blindness III and Slowness IV for 10 seconds, which can be lethal if other mobs are nearby. They move at speed 0.2 on land and 3.0 in water. They are immune to poison and fire damage.

Ambient Creatures

Not everything in the deep wants to kill you. Golden Moths are tiny passive flying creatures with 3 HP that emit glowing Shine particles. You can catch one by using a Honey Bottle on it, which produces a Golden Moth in a Jar block that serves as a decorative light source. Luminous Jellies are ambient water creatures that drift through the Ship Graveyard, and Spinefish are small aquatic creatures that can be caught in a Bucket or fished for food.

Boss Fights

Ghost of Captain Cornelia

Captain Cornelia is the signature boss of Aquamirae. She is summoned using a Shell Horn within the Ice Maze, specifically near water pools at the correct elevation. When you use the Shell Horn, it searches a 12-block radius for a valid arena (water blocks at y=58 and y=62). If conditions are met, Cornelia spawns after a 3-second delay. If you are not in the right location, you will receive a failure message in chat.

Cornelia has 160 HP, 16 armor, and 0.5 knockback resistance. She wields a Coral Lance with Sharpness IV, making her effective damage around 14 per hit. She is immune to arrows, fall damage, fire, tridents, and void damage. The fight has multiple phases: she begins with standard melee attacks, then gains Speed V bursts during combat. When her health drops below 30%, she enters a rage phase where she levitates and summons orbiting Poisoned Chakra projectiles in a 5-block radius. Below 10% health, she can call down lightning strikes. She also has a configurable regeneration ability that can heal her a limited number of times (default 2 uses).

Maze Mother

The Maze Mother is a massive aquatic boss measuring 8 blocks wide and 3 blocks tall. She has 100 HP, 6 armor, and a detection range of 128 blocks. Her most notable ability is destroying ice blocks in a 12x12 area as she moves, literally reshaping the Ice Maze around her. She has a rare chance to spawn naturally alongside Anglerfish, and the game sends a chat notification when she appears within 200 blocks of you. She swims at speed 3.0 and hits for 5 damage with 0.5 knockback.

The Eel

The Eel is the tankiest boss in the mod with 180 HP and a staggering 20 armor. It is completely immune to knockback (100.0 knockback resistance) and deals 8 damage per hit with strong knockback of its own. The Eel fights using a combination of melee attack chains (1 to 3 hits per sequence), a devastating roar that knocks back everything within 150 blocks, and teleportation. It becomes briefly invulnerable while teleporting between positions. Its detection range is 32 blocks, and it only moves to valid ground with air above, making terrain important in the fight.

Captain Cornelia's Rage Phase

When Cornelia drops below 30% HP, she levitates and summons three orbiting Poisoned Chakra projectiles that deal damage in a 5-block radius. Do not try to melee her during this phase. Back away, wait for the projectiles to dissipate, then re-engage. Below 10% HP she can also strike you with lightning, so finish her quickly once you push past that threshold.

Endgame Weapons

Aquamirae features nine melee weapons and two projectile weapons, scaling from basic bone weapons to devastatingly powerful Abyssal-tier arms. The mid-game weapons bridge the gap between the early Remnants Saber and the endgame arsenal.

Terrible Sword

The Terrible Sword is an early-to-mid upgrade dealing 6.0 damage at 1.0 attack speed. Its slow swing is compensated by a massive 50% critical hit chance bonus and triple critical damage (200% increase). The catch is that every hit you land also deals 1 heart of damage to you. With 750 durability and 18 enchantability, it is a high-risk, high-reward weapon.

Fin Cutter

The Fin Cutter is the best balanced mid-game option, dealing 6.0 damage at a comfortable 2.0 attack speed with 1000 durability. It requires Ship Graveyard Echoes, an Abyssal Amethyst, Diamonds, Fins, and a Stick. With 20 enchantability it takes enchantments well, making it a reliable workhorse weapon.

Divider

The Divider is a late-game sword dealing 7.0 damage at 1.4 attack speed with an incredible 2200 durability, the highest of any Aquamirae weapon. Every hit applies a stacking Health Decrease debuff that reduces the target's maximum HP by 5% per stack, up to 10 stacks. This makes it devastating against bosses and tanky mobs. It requires Netherite Ingots, Abyssal Amethysts, and Ship Graveyard Echoes to craft.

Coral Lance & Whisper of the Abyss

The two pinnacle weapons in Aquamirae both deal 14.0 damage, nearly double a Netherite Sword's 8.0. The Coral Lance swings at 1.2 speed with 30% bonus accuracy, 25% extended attack range, and comes pre-enchanted with Sharpness IV (adding 2.5 damage for a total of 16.5). It is Mythic rarity and has 1400 durability. The Whisper of the Abyss trades some speed (0.8 attack speed) for a stacking Armor Decrease debuff that strips 10% armor per hit, up to 5 stacks. Both require Netherite Ingots, Abyssal Amethysts, and Ship Graveyard Echoes.

Ranged Options

The Maze Rose and Poisoned Chakra are throwable projectile weapons. The Maze Rose has 1800 durability and a 15% critical hit bonus, while the Poisoned Chakra has 1200 durability with a 10% critical hit bonus. Both are crafted from rare materials and provide ranged attack options for situations where melee is too risky, like Captain Cornelia's rage phase.

Abyssal Armor

The Abyssal Armor is the endgame set in Aquamirae, crafted from Abyssal Amethysts and Netherite Ingots. While its raw armor total of 16 is slightly lower than the Three Bolt set's 20, it compensates with 3.0 toughness (matching Netherite), 0.1 knockback resistance, and extremely powerful set bonuses. Every piece has 12 enchantability, the highest of any Aquamirae armor.

Wearing two or more pieces of Abyssal Armor grants the Strong Armor buff, which is continuously refreshed while equipped. The Heaume and Boots each add +3 weapon power, while the Brigantine and Leggings add +25% weapon power each. When you wear three or more pieces alongside the Abyssal Tiara headpiece, nearby monsters within 4 blocks receive Abyss Blindness, reducing their movement speed by 50% per stack.

The Abyssal Tiara is a separate headpiece that adds 3 armor and +3 weapon power. You can combine it with the full Abyssal set (wearing Heaume or Tiara) depending on whether you prefer more raw armor or the Abyss Blindness aura. The Brigantine requires an Astral Dust in addition to the standard Abyssal Amethyst and Netherite Ingot materials.

To craft the full set you need a significant amount of Abyssal Amethysts. Each Amethyst requires four Ship Graveyard Echoes and one Amethyst Shard, so plan your material gathering accordingly. The Heaume takes 3 Amethysts and 2 Netherite Ingots, the Brigantine takes 5 Amethysts, 2 Netherite Ingots, and an Astral Dust, the Leggings take 5 Amethysts and 2 Netherite Ingots, and the Boots take 2 Amethysts and 2 Netherite Ingots.

Food & Consumables

Aquamirae adds several food items that range from basic sustenance to some of the most powerful consumables in modded Minecraft. The raw Spinefish restores 2 hunger with no saturation but can be cooked in a Furnace, Smoker, or Campfire into Cooked Spinefish, which restores 6 hunger and 0.4 saturation. Eating raw Spinefish leaves behind Sharp Bones in your inventory.

Esca, the glowing lure dropped by Anglerfish, restores 6 hunger and 0.2 saturation while granting Regeneration I for 10 seconds. It is a solid mid-combat healing food. Sea Casserole is a bowl food crafted from Sweet Berries, Oxygelium, Wheat, Esca, Eggs, and Milk, restoring 6 hunger with combat-enhancing buffs including Fury II for 90 seconds and Speed I for 30 seconds.

Sea Stew is the premium food option, crafted from Baked Potato, Esca, Cooked Spinefish, Oxygelium, Fin, Pufferfish, and a Bowl. It restores a massive 12 hunger and 0.8 saturation while granting Fury III and Speed I for a full 2 minutes. Poseidon's Breakfast is the ultimate consumable at Epic rarity, fully restoring your hunger bar (20 hunger, 1.0 saturation) and granting Fury X and Speed V for 3 minutes. It requires an Enchanted Golden Apple, Sea Stew, and several rare ocean ingredients to craft.

Other Consumables

The Dead Sea Scroll is a single-use magical item (stacks to 8) with a 5-second cooldown. Using it triggers special effects and plays a unique sound. Pirate Pouches are common loot containers that give a random item from the common loot pool when opened. You can combine five Pirate Pouches with a Ship Graveyard Echo to craft a Treasure Pouch, which provides both a random rare item and rolls on a dedicated treasure loot table for additional rewards.

Two custom potions are also available through brewing. The Potion of Tenacity is brewed by adding Wisteria Niveis to an Awkward Potion. The Spectral Potion is brewed by adding Esca to any Water Bottle, Splash Water Bottle, or Lingering Water Bottle.

Decorative Items & Collectibles

Aquamirae includes several decorative items for builders and collectors. Four collectible paintings can be found or obtained as drops: the Anglerfish, Oxygelium, Tortured Soul, and Aurora paintings. Each can be placed on walls and is waterloggable, making them perfect for underwater base decoration. The Golden Moth in a Jar is a charming light source block created by catching a Golden Moth with a Honey Bottle. The Luminescent Lamp is a craftable light source using Oxygelium, Esca, and Sticks.

Two music discs are also available. The "Horizon" disc has Rare rarity, while the "Forsaken Drownage" disc has Mythic rarity. Both add to the mod's atmospheric soundtrack and make excellent trophies from your deep sea expeditions.

Configuration

Aquamirae's configuration is split into client and common config files, stored in the config/Obscuria/ folder. The common config lets you adjust the stats of every mob in the mod, including health, armor, damage, movement speed, follow range, knockback, and knockback resistance for Captain Cornelia, the Anglerfish, Maw, Tortured Soul, Maze Mother, and Eel. You can also toggle the stylized boss bar and chat notifications (such as the Maze Mother spawn alert).

The client config controls visual and audio settings. You can disable the ambient particles, biome ambient sounds, biome background music, the Cornelia boss fight music, and the Three Bolt Helmet's underwater overlay. If you find the atmosphere too intense or the overlay distracting, these options let you customize the experience to your preference.

Dagger of Greed Has a Hidden Risk

The Dagger of Greed drops Emeralds from Villagers and Illagers on every hit, with a bonus pile of 3 to 8 Emeralds on kill. However, hitting Villagers with it has a 5% chance to inflict Bad Omen on you for a full in-game day. This can trigger a Raid if you enter a Village afterward. The dagger also only has 100 durability and cannot be repaired conventionally, so use it strategically.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I summon Captain Cornelia?

Use a Shell Horn inside the Ice Maze near the water arena areas. The Horn searches a 12-block radius for valid water pools at the correct elevation (y=58 to y=62). After a 3-second delay, Cornelia will spawn in the water. If conditions are not met, you will see a failure message in chat. The Shell Horn is consumed on a successful summon.

How do I open Frozen Chests?

Frozen Chests cannot be broken or opened normally. They have -1.0 hardness, making them indestructible. You need a Frozen Key to unlock them. Right-click the chest with the key in hand, and it will transform into a regular Chest filled with loot from the mod's frozen chest loot table. Frozen Keys are found as loot drops within the Ship Graveyard and Ice Maze.

What is the best weapon in Aquamirae?

The Coral Lance is generally the strongest all-around weapon with 14.0 base damage, pre-enchanted Sharpness IV (16.5 effective damage), 30% accuracy, 25% extended range, and 1400 durability. For sustained boss fights, the Divider's stacking Health Decrease effect and 2200 durability make it arguably more effective. The Whisper of the Abyss is best against heavily armored targets thanks to its Armor Decrease debuff.

What is the Sea Wolf class system?

Aquamirae uses the ObscureAPI class system to provide set bonuses and weapon abilities. Most Aquamirae weapons and armor pieces are tagged as "Sea Wolf" class items. When you equip matching class items, their individual bonuses (like +20% weapon power on the Terrible Helmet or +30% armor on the Three Bolt fullset) activate. The class system works passively and does not require any special setup beyond equipping the gear.

How do I craft Abyssal Amethyst?

Abyssal Amethyst is crafted from four Ship Graveyard Echoes and one Amethyst Shard in a plus pattern on the Crafting Table. Since nearly every endgame recipe requires multiple Amethysts, you will need a large stockpile of Echoes. Farm the Ship Graveyard mobs and explore thoroughly to collect enough materials.

Does Aquamirae require any other mods?

Yes, Aquamirae requires ObscureAPI as a dependency. ObscureAPI provides the class system (Sea Wolf), custom attributes (accuracy, critical hit, critical damage), rarity tiers (Mythic), and other framework features that Aquamirae's items and armor rely on. Make sure both mods are installed and on the same Minecraft/Forge version.
