Industrial Foregoing Mod Guide: Complete Automation from Latex to Infinity
Industrial Foregoing is a powerhouse automation mod that lets you automate virtually every aspect of Minecraft. From farming and animal husbandry to ore generation, mob grinding, and enchanting, the mod provides over 40 specialized machines all built around a unique Plastic crafting material. Its progression starts with a simple Tree Fluid Extractor and scales up to the world-eating Infinity Drill.
Overview
Industrial Foregoing adds over 40 machines that automate farming, animal husbandry, mob interaction, ore processing, enchanting, resource generation, and storage. Every machine runs on RF/FE power and uses a unique material called
Plastic as the primary crafting ingredient. The mod introduces 11 custom fluids, a tiered
Laser Drill for infinite ore generation, massive Black Hole storage, and the legendary Infinity Drill that can mine entire chunks at once.
You can browse every item and recipe this mod adds using the Items and Recipes tabs above. This guide walks you through the full progression from your very first
Tree Fluid Extractor to endgame systems like the
Laser Drill and Infinity Drill.
Machines do not auto-eject outputs and do not auto-pull inputs. You will need Conveyors, hoppers, pipes from other mods, or the mod's own Transfer Addons to move items and fluids between machines. All machines accept RF, FE, Tesla, and Mekanism power formats.
Most machine recipes require a Machine Frame (or equivalent Machine Case/Basic Block) in the center slot. The exact item depends on which compatible mods you have installed. With no other tech mods, you'll use the default Iron Block frame. With Thermal Expansion, Mekanism, or EnderIO installed, their machine casings are used instead.
Getting Started: The Plastic Pipeline
- 1
Place a Tree Fluid Extractor
Craft a
Tree Fluid Extractor (no
Plastic needed, just Stone, Iron, Redstone, and a Furnace) and place it facing any log block. It will slowly produce Latex and consume the log over time. Multiple extractors on the same log will consume it faster, so spread them across different trees. - 2
Process Latex into Tiny Dry Rubber
Craft a
Latex Processing Unit and pipe in both Latex and Water. It consumes 75 mb of Latex and 1,000 mb of Water to produce 1
Tiny Dry Rubber. You'll need a
Water Condensator or other water source to keep it fed. - 3
Combine Rubber into Plastic
Combine 9
Tiny Dry Rubber in a Crafting Table to make 1
Dry Rubber. Then smelt Dry
Rubber in a Furnace to get
Plastic. Plastic is the core crafting material for every machine in the mod, so stockpile it early. - 4
Build Your First Power Generator
Craft a
Pitiful Fuel Generator (uses Cobblestone and Iron, plus one
Plastic frame piece). It only accepts wood-type fuel but is enough to power your first few machines. Later, upgrade to the
Petrified Fuel Generator or the
Biofuel Generator for serious power. - 5
Craft the Book Manual
Combine Paper and any Log in a shapeless recipe to get the Industrial Foregoing Manual. This in-game guide explains every machine and is invaluable while learning the mod. Keep it handy as you expand your factory.
Latex to Plastic Pipeline
Power Generation
Industrial Foregoing includes four generators that scale with your progression. The
Pitiful Fuel Generator is your entry point, accepting only wood-type fuels. The
Petrified Fuel Generator is a direct upgrade that accepts any solid fuel, with RF output proportional to the fuel's burn time. However, all fuels burn for the same duration regardless of their vanilla burn time, so higher-tier fuels simply produce more RF per tick.
Biofuel Generator
The real workhorse is the
Biofuel Generator, producing 160 RF/t from Biofuel. One bucket of Biofuel yields a total of 640,000 RF. A single
Bioreactor at maximum efficiency can sustain about 28 Biofuel Generators. This is the power backbone of most Industrial Foregoing setups.
Protein Generator
The
Protein Generator is the most powerful option at 320 RF/t. One bucket of Protein produces 1,280,000 RF total. It requires Protein fluid from the Protein Reactor, which works identically to the
Bioreactor but accepts animal drops instead of plant materials.
Agriculture Machines
Industrial Foregoing's agriculture system automates every step of farming. The Crop Sower plants seeds and saplings from its inventory. You can lock individual slots to filter which seeds go where, and the colored backgrounds on the block's top face correspond to each slot's planting zone.
The Crop Recolector (
Plant Gatherer) harvests fully grown crops, chops down trees, and handles Pumpkins, Melons, and Nether Wart. Each harvest produces a small amount of Sludge as a byproduct, which can be processed in the
Sludge Refiner. Having a full Sludge tank will not slow the machine down. The
Plant Interactor provides an alternative harvest method by right-clicking crops and fruits, making it compatible with Pam's HarvestCraft plants by default.
The Crop Enrich Material Injector (
Plant Fertilizer) applies Bonemeal, Industrial Foregoing
Fertilizer, or Forestry Fertilizer to crops and saplings in its working area. The
Hydrator increases crop growth speed passively with just power. The
Spores Recreator grows Mushrooms from a single input Mushroom using power and Water.
Sludge and Fertilizer Loop
The
Sludge Refiner converts 1 bucket of Sludge into earth-like materials such as Clay, Soul Sand, Dirt, Gravel, Mycelium, Sand, and Red Sand with weighted probabilities. Meanwhile, the Sewage Composter Solidifier converts 2 buckets of Sewage into
Fertilizer, creating a satisfying loop: farm animals produce Sewage, which becomes Fertilizer, which speeds up your crops, which feed your
Bioreactor.
Most machines accept Range Addons in their addon slot. These come in 12 tiers (from Cobblestone up to Platinum/Diamond) and progressively expand the working area. Not all machines support Range Addons, so check the addon slot in each machine's GUI.
Animal Husbandry
Five dedicated machines handle every aspect of automated animal farming. The Animal Stock Increaser (
Animal Feeder) breeds animals by feeding them their breeding item. It caps at 35 animals in the working area to prevent lag. The Animal Resource Harvester (
Animal Rancher) uses Buckets to milk Cows, Shears to shear Sheep, and automatically collects Ink Sacs from Squids.
The Animal Growth Increaser (
Animal Grower) speeds up baby animal maturation using breeding food and power. The Animal Independence Selector (Baby Separator) moves baby animals from the back of the machine to the front, keeping your breeding area clear. Installing an
Adult Filter addon reverses this behavior, moving adults instead.
The Animal Byproduct Recolector (
Animal Sewer) passively collects Sewage from animals above it. This is a key fluid for the
Fertilizer loop described earlier.
Mob Interaction
Mob Imprisonment Tool
The
Mob Imprisonment Tool is a reusable item that captures any non-player, non-boss entity when right-clicked. Right-click a surface to release the captured mob. It displays the entity type and remaining health in its tooltip. This tool is essential for the
Mob Duplicator and
Villager Trade Exchanger.
Mob Slaughter Factory and Mob Relocator
The
Mob Slaughter Factory grinds entities in front of it into Liquid Meat and
Pink Slime fluid. It does not drop items or experience. Use the Mob Relocator (
Mob Crusher) instead if you want item drops and XP, as it kills entities as if a player dealt the blow, converts experience orbs into Essence, and collects dropped items. Adding an
Adult Filter addon makes it kill only adult mobs.
Mob Duplicator
The
Mob Duplicator spawns copies of entities stored in a
Mob Imprisonment Tool. It requires power and Essence to operate, and it counts nearby entities of the same type to prevent overpopulation. Combined with a
Mob Slaughter Factory or Mob Relocator, you can create a self-sustaining mob farm for any entity in the game.
Bioreactor and Protein Reactor
Both reactors work identically but accept different input categories. The
Bioreactor accepts plant-based materials: Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Melon Seeds, Beetroot Seeds, Nether Wart, Sugar Cane, Cactus, Red Mushroom, Brown Mushroom, Kelp, and all Dyes and Saplings. The Protein Reactor accepts animal drops: Raw Porkchop, Raw Beef, Raw Chicken, Raw Rabbit, Raw Mutton, Raw Cod, Rotten Flesh, Spider Eye, Bone, and all raw fish variants.
Each unique item in a reactor adds 10 mb to the output of every item slot. With 1 item type you get 10 mb per item. With 9 different item types, each item produces 90 mb, for a maximum output of 1,440 mb per cycle consuming 9 items. Always aim for 9 unique items for peak efficiency.
Enchanting System
Four machines handle enchantment automation. The Enchantment Invoker (
Enchantment Factory) works like an Enchanting Table, using 3 buckets of Essence to perform a level 30 enchantment on any enchantable item. The
Enchantment Applicator works like an Anvil, combining items and Enchanted Books using Essence instead of player XP levels.
The
Enchantment Extractor removes one enchantment from an item and applies it to a Book, without damaging the original item. The Enchantment Refiner (Sorter) sorts enchanted items to the top row and unenchanted items to the bottom row, useful for separating loot from mob farms.
The
Resourceful Furnace is the primary Essence source outside of mob farms. It smelts 3 items simultaneously like a normal Furnace but produces a small amount of Essence with each smelting operation.
Conveyor Belt System
Conveyors are the mod's native item and entity transport system. Craft them with
Plastic, Iron Ingots, and Redstone (yields 4 per craft). They can be dyed 16 different colors, made faster by applying a Glowstone Dust, or made sticky by applying Plastic (sticky conveyors grab items that touch them from the side).
Conveyors automatically go up or down when placed adjacent to higher or lower conveyor lines. Seven upgrade types snap onto conveyor sides to add functionality. The Extraction Upgrade pulls items from adjacent inventories onto the belt. The Insertion Upgrade pushes items off the belt into adjacent inventories. Both support whitelist/blacklist filtering.
The Detection Upgrade emits a Redstone signal when an entity passes over it. The Bouncing Upgrade launches entities into the air with configurable horizontal and vertical velocity. The Dropping Upgrade sends entities straight down or inserts items into inventories below. The Blinking Upgrade teleports entities forward 1 to 8 blocks. The Splitting Upgrade distributes entities across sides with configurable ratios.
Ore Processing Chain
Industrial Foregoing offers a unique ore multiplication system using biological processing. This chain effectively triples your ores through three specialized machines, but it requires infrastructure from several other parts of the mod.
Step 1: Ore Washer
Feed Silk Touched ores and Liquid Meat into the Ore Washer. It combines them into Raw Ore Meat. You'll need a steady supply of Liquid Meat from Mob Slaughter Factories.
Step 2: Ore Fermenter
The Ore Fermenter converts Raw Ore Meat into Fermented Ore Meat. It requires specific environmental conditions: a hot source on the bottom (Magma Blocks, Fire, Lava) and cold fluid on any other side (Ice, cold fluids from other mods). The fermented ore meat grows in size during processing.
Step 3: Ore Sieve
Finally, the Ore Sieve takes Fermented Ore Meat and Sand, filtering out the ore into dust form. This dust can then be smelted into ingots.
Ore Tripling Chain
The ore processing chain specifically requires Silk Touched ores, not regular ore drops. Use a Silk Touch pickaxe or the Block Destroyer with Silk Touch enchantment to collect ores properly for this system. The separate
Ore Processor machine can also break down Silk Touched ores into their normal drops, with Essence providing a Fortune bonus.
Laser Drill System
The
Laser Drill is Industrial Foregoing's infinite ore generation system. It consists of two blocks: the
Laser Base and one or more Laser Drills placed exactly 1 block away from the Base. Laser Drills feed power into the Laser Base, and when fully charged it produces ores based on depth (Y-level) and biome.
You can influence which ores the
Laser Base produces by inserting colored Laser Lenses. Each ore type in the configuration is associated with a specific lens color, and adding a matching lens increases the probability of that ore appearing. Inverted Laser Lenses (crafted with Iron instead of
Pink Slime) decrease the chance of a specific ore, which indirectly boosts the odds of everything else. Check JEI for the complete ore table with probabilities, depth requirements, and lens colors.
The system supports vanilla ores (Coal, Iron, Redstone, Gold, Lapis Lazuli, Emerald, Diamond, Quartz, Glowstone) and dozens of modded ores including Copper, Tin, Lead, Silver, Nickel, Uranium, Cobalt, Ardite, Draconium, Yellorium, and many more. Ore availability is determined by JSON configuration files, so modpack makers can customize what the
Laser Drill produces.
Black Hole Storage
Industrial Foregoing's storage solutions are among the most capacious in modded Minecraft. The
Black Hole Unit stores up to 2,147,483,647 of a single item type, which is the maximum 32-bit integer value. The
Black Hole Tank holds the same amount in millibuckets of a single fluid type. Both are effectively infinite storage for practical purposes.
The
Black Hole Controller holds up to 9 Black Hole Units, giving you access to 9 different item types from a single block with a combined theoretical maximum of over 19 billion items. Black Hole Labels let you name and organize your storage. Both Black Hole Units and Black Hole Tanks preserve their contents when broken, so you can safely relocate them.
Black Hole Storage Capacities
| Black Hole Unit | 2,147,483,647 items (1 type) |
| Black Hole Tank | 2,147,483,647 mb (1 fluid) |
| Black Hole Controller | 9 Units (9 types, 19.3B total) |
| Black Hole Label | Named access point |
The Infinity Drill
The Infinity Drill is Industrial Foregoing's ultimate mining tool. It functions as both a Pickaxe and Shovel at harvest level 3, and its mining area expands as you charge it with more RF. The
drill has 7 tiers, each unlocking at specific power thresholds. It can also use Biofuel (stored in its internal 1,000,000 mb tank) at a rate of 3 mb per block, which is more efficient than the 10,000 RF per block it otherwise consumes.
Shift-right-clicking the
drill cycles through available area sizes up to your current tier's maximum. The Artifact tier is special: it mines a full 13x13x13 cube instead of a flat plane, making it capable of clearing enormous areas in seconds. All mined items and XP orbs are teleported directly to the player.
Infinity Drill Tiers
| Poor | Common | Uncommon | Rare | Epic | Legendary | Artifact | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Power Required | 0 RF | 4M RF | 16M RF | 80M RF | 480M RF | 3.36B RF | Max Long |
| Mining Radius | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
| Mining Area | 1×1×1 | 3×3×1 | 5×5×1 | 7×7×1 | 9×9×1 | 11×11×1 | 13×13×13 |
| Color | Gray | White | Green | Blue | Purple | Gold | Yellow |
Utility Machines and Items
Straw
The
Straw lets you drink fluids directly from the world or tanks. Different fluids give different potion effects. Biofuel grants Speed and Strength for 40 seconds. Liquid Meat gives Strength II and Resistance II briefly. Protein provides Strength III and Resistance III. Be careful with Sewage (Weakness and Poison), Sludge (Saturation, Nausea, and Poison II), and Latex (Speed II but also Poison II).
Meat Feeder
The
Meat Feeder holds 128,000 mb of Liquid Meat and automatically feeds you when kept in your inventory. It acts as a standard fluid container that can be filled from any fluid handler. Once filled, you never need to worry about food again.
Material Stonework Factory
This versatile machine generates Cobblestone internally and processes it through 4 configurable operations: smelt, 2x2 craft, grind, and 3x3 craft. By chaining operations you can automate production of Stone, Stone Bricks, Smooth Stone, and many other stone variants from nothing but power.
Other Utility Machines
The
Fluid Pump drains all fluids of a matching type in its working area, replacing them with Cobblestone. The
Lava Fabricator produces Lava from large amounts of power. The
Water Condensator produces Water when 2 or more adjacent sides have Water source blocks. The Block Destroyer breaks any block in front of it, and the
Block Placer does the opposite. The
Fluid Crafter handles recipes that normally require fluid Buckets, using fluid from its internal tank instead.
Transfer Addons and Energy Field
Since machines don't auto-eject or auto-pull, Transfer Addons are your built-in solution for moving items and fluids without external pipes. They come in Push and Pull variants for both items (Itemstack Transfer Addon) and fluids (Fluid Transfer Addon). Right-click to cycle the transfer direction, or shift-right-click a block face to target a specific side. Enchanting them with Efficiency increases the transfer rate.
The
Energy Field Provider and
Energy Field Addon create a wireless power network. Place an Energy Field Addon in any machine's addon slot, then link it to an Energy Field Provider. The Provider charges the internal buffer of all linked addons within its range, eliminating the need for power cables to individual machines.
Pink Slime
Pink Slime is both a fluid and a crafting material with a unique acquisition method. Pink Slime fluid is produced as a byproduct of the
Mob Slaughter Factory. When placed in the world as a fluid source block, Pink Slime entities spawn from it. These small slimes drop Pink Slime items when killed at size 1. Pink Slime is used to craft Laser Lenses and several advanced machines.
Pink Slime Ingots are crafted from Pink Slime and are required for endgame items like the Infinity Drill,
Black Hole Controller, Ore Washer, and the
Energy Field Addon. They represent a mid-to-late-game crafting bottleneck, so set up Pink Slime production early.
Machine Upgrades
Industrial Foregoing machines don't have native speed upgrades. Instead, they use Energy Upgrades and Speed Upgrades from the Tesla Core Lib dependency. Speed upgrades are tiered, and you must install the previous tier before adding the next one. Range Addons come in 12 tiers (Cobblestone through Platinum/Diamond) and expand the working area of compatible machines.
The
Fortune Addon adds Fortune or Looting effects to compatible machines like the Block Destroyer and Mob Relocator. It must be enchanted with Fortune, and the enchantment level determines the bonus. The
Adult Filter restricts certain animal and mob machines to only interact with adult entities. The
Leaf Shearing Addon lets the Crop Recolector harvest leaves from trees.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why aren't my machines outputting items automatically?
Industrial Foregoing machines do not auto-eject outputs or auto-pull inputs by default. You need to use Conveyors, Hoppers, Itemduct/Fluiducts from Thermal, EnderIO conduits, or the mod's own Itemstack/Fluid Transfer Addons to move items and fluids between machines.
How do I get Pink Slime Ingots?
Set up a
Mob Slaughter Factory to produce
Pink Slime fluid. Place the fluid in the world to spawn Pink Slime mobs. Kill the smallest slimes (size 1) to get Pink Slime items. Then smelt or craft Pink Slime items into Pink Slime Ingots. The exact recipe depends on your mod version.
What power systems does Industrial Foregoing support?
All machines accept RF (Redstone Flux), FE (Forge Energy), Tesla, and Mekanism Joules. Any power generation mod that outputs one of these formats will work.
How do I maximize Bioreactor output?
Feed it 9 different bio materials simultaneously. Each unique item type adds 10 mb to the output of every slot. With 9 unique items, each item produces 90 mb for a total of 1,440 mb of Biofuel per cycle. Good choices include Wheat Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Melon Seeds, Beetroot Seeds, Nether Wart, Cactus, Sugar Cane, any Sapling, and any Dye.
How does the Laser Drill target specific ores?
Insert colored Laser Lenses matching the ore you want. Each ore is associated with a specific lens color. Check JEI for the complete mapping of lens colors to ores, including required Y-level depths and biome restrictions. Inverted Lenses decrease the probability of unwanted ores, indirectly boosting your target ore's chances.
Can I use the Infinity Drill without Biofuel?
Yes. The Infinity Drill uses Biofuel preferentially at 3 mb per block mined, but falls back to RF at 10,000 RF per block if the Biofuel tank is empty. Biofuel is far more efficient, so keeping it filled is recommended for extended mining sessions.
