Nature's Aura Mod Guide: Harnessing Environmental Aura for Magical Crafting & Automation
Nature's Aura is a magic-themed mod that revolves around collecting, using, and replenishing the invisible Aura that naturally permeates the Minecraft world. Using rituals, altars, and specialized devices, you can harness this environmental energy to create powerful tools, automate crafting, spawn mobs, and even influence the world around you.
Overview
Nature's Aura introduces an invisible energy system called Aura that exists naturally in every chunk of the Overworld. Every block, flower, and tree contributes to the ambient Aura levels in your area. The mod gives you tools to collect this energy, channel it into crafting recipes, and even replenish it when levels get too low. The result is a nature-themed magic mod that rewards careful resource management and environmental awareness.
The mod adds two primary crafting systems: the Ritual of the Forest (an outdoor tree-based ritual) and the Natural Altar (a multiblock structure for material infusion). Beyond crafting, you'll find Aura generators to replenish the environment, automation devices, a full set of
Infused Iron tools and armor, and environmental effects that respond to Aura levels. You can browse all items and recipes using the tabs on this page.
Nature's Aura requires the Patchouli mod, which provides the in-game guidebook. The
Book of Natural Aura walks you through every recipe and mechanic, progressively unlocking information as you earn Advancements.
Getting Started
- 1
Craft the Book of Natural Aura
Your first step is crafting the guidebook by combining Paper, Paper, Leather, and a Sapling in any shape on a Crafting Table. This
book is your primary reference for every recipe and mechanic in the mod. It unlocks new pages as you progress through Advancements, so keep it handy. - 2
Gather Gold Leaf
Gold Leaf is the foundational material for Nature's Aura. To get it, craft
Gold Fiber from Gold Ingots and Tall Grass, then right-click Gold Fiber on leaf blocks to convert them into Golden Leaves. When the Golden Leaves decay naturally, they drop Gold Leaf. You'll need plenty of Gold Leaf for early recipes, so convert several trees' worth of leaves. - 3
Set Up Your First Tree Ritual
The Ritual of the Forest is your first crafting method. Place a Sapling in the center, surround it with
Gold Powder on the ground in a specific pattern, and place four Wood Stands around the outside. Put the required ingredients on the Wood Stands, then use Bone Meal on the Sapling to start the ritual. The tree will grow and consume the items, producing the result. Your first ritual should be crafting the
Eye of the Druid, which lets you see Aura levels in the world. - 4
Build the Natural Altar
The Natural Altar is crafted via a Tree Ritual using Stone,
Gold Leaf, an Iron Ingot, and an
Aura Bottle. Once you have the altar block, build the multiblock structure: the altar in the center surrounded by a pattern of Stone Bricks, Chiseled Stone Bricks, Wood Planks, and Gold Bricks. The altar collects Aura from the environment (within a 20-block radius) and stores up to 5,000 Aura internally. Place items on it to begin infusion recipes. - 5
Create Infused Iron
Place an Iron Ingot on the Natural Altar to infuse it into
Infused Iron, the mod's primary crafting material. This costs 300 Aura and takes 80 ticks. You can also infuse a full Iron Block into an Infused Iron Block for 2,700 Aura. Infused Iron unlocks tools, armor, and nearly every advanced device in the mod.
To make an
Aura Bottle, first craft a
Bottle Two the Rebottling from a Glass Bottle and a Sapling. Then right-click it in the air when there is at least 1,000 Aura nearby. It drains 200 Aura per bottle. Overworld Aura Bottles are used in many crafting recipes, while Nether and End variants unlock specific advanced recipes.
The Two Crafting Systems
Ritual of the Forest
The Tree Ritual is an outdoor crafting process that uses a growing tree to transform ingredients. The multiblock layout consists of a Sapling at the center,
Gold Powder forming connecting paths on the ground, and four to eight Wood Stands placed at cardinal and diagonal positions around the perimeter. Each Wood Stand holds one ingredient.
To activate the ritual, place all required items on the Wood Stands and then apply Bone Meal to the Sapling (or wait for it to grow naturally). As the tree grows, magical particles stream from the Wood Stands to the tree, consuming each ingredient. The ritual output appears once the tree has fully formed. Different recipes require different sapling types, so check each recipe carefully. Oak Saplings work for most early recipes, while Jungle Saplings are needed for some advanced ones like the Conversion Catalyst.
Natural Altar
The Natural Altar is a stationary multiblock that passively draws Aura from a 20-block radius and stores up to 5,000 Aura in its internal buffer. It has a 1-slot inventory: place an input item on top and the altar will transform it according to the matching recipe, consuming the required Aura over a set number of ticks.
Some altar recipes require a catalyst block placed on one of the four diagonal corners, one block above the altar. The Conversion Catalyst is the most common catalyst, enabling recipes like converting Rotten Flesh into Leather (400 Aura), Sand into Soul Sand (200 Aura), Red Mushrooms into Nether Wart (600 Aura), and Lapis Lazuli into Prismarine Shards (850 Aura). The altar can also charge Aura Caches placed on it.
Aura Generators
Using Aura for crafting and devices drains it from the environment. If levels drop too low, negative effects begin occurring. Nature's Aura provides several generators to replenish Aura, each with different fuel sources and output rates. You should always have at least one generator running near your crafting area.
Flower Generator
The Flower Generator is your earliest Aura producer. It automatically consumes flowers within a 3-block horizontal radius (and 1 block vertically), generating up to 200 Aura per flower. There is diminishing returns built in: consuming the same type of flower repeatedly reduces the Aura gained. Vary the flower types around the generator for maximum efficiency, and replant regularly to keep a steady supply.
Oak Generator
The Oak Generator produces 500 Aura every time a tree grows within its 25-block radius. This pairs perfectly with automation: place Saplings nearby with a Placer and let the generator passively produce Aura from natural tree growth. Each log block in the grown tree is detected and contributes to the output.
Herbivorous Absorber (Animal Generator)
The Animal Generator, also known as the Herbivorous Absorber, generates Aura when animals die nearby. It works within a 35-block radius and releases its stored Aura over time. This can be automated with animal farms, but be mindful of the ethical and environmental balance the mod encourages.
Potion Generator
The Potion Generator is an advanced Aura source that requires its own Nether Brick multiblock structure. It generates Aura by consuming Lingering Potion area-of-effect clouds. When an Area Effect Cloud (from a Lingering Potion) enters its range, the generator absorbs it, shrinking its radius by 0.25 per tick and converting the potion energy into Aura. More potent effects and larger clouds produce more Aura.
End Flower
The End Flower is a unique Aura source that only appears in the End dimension. When the Ender Dragon is slain, End Flowers can spawn in the End at random locations. Each End Flower starts with 5,000 Aura stored internally. When the ambient Aura nearby drops below 10,000, it enters drain mode, slowly releasing its stored Aura into the environment at 50 Aura per tick. Once depleted, it turns into Dead Bush and disappears. End Flowers are a finite resource.
Aura imbalance has real consequences. When levels drop too low, grass and trees begin dying (Natural Decay), random explosions can occur, and players may suffer breathlessness. When levels are high, you get benefits like accelerated plant growth (Vegetational Increase), animals producing more offspring, and Aura Caches in your inventory recharging passively. Keep a generator running to stay in the positive range.
Infused Iron Tools & Armor
Infused Iron is the primary material tier in Nature's Aura, sitting between Iron and Diamond in overall power. Tools and armor are crafted using Infused Iron Ingots and Ancient Sticks (made from Ancient Planks, which come from Ancient Trees grown via Tree Ritual). All Infused Iron equipment can be recharged from Aura Caches in your inventory, meaning they effectively have infinite durability as long as you keep your cache filled.
The
Infused Iron Pickaxe has a special ability: right-clicking Stone turns it into Mossy Cobblestone, and right-clicking Stone Bricks turns them into Mossy Stone Bricks (the Botanist's Pickaxe conversion). This costs 3 durability per use. The
Infused Iron Sword applies Wither II for 3 seconds on hit. The
Infused Iron Hoe has a chance to drop seeds when tilling ground: a 20% chance for grass seeds, and a 10% chance for Wheat Seeds, Melon Seeds, or Beetroot Seeds. The
Infused Iron Shovel can create paths in a 3x3 area (when not sneaking) and can convert Dirt back to Grass.
Wearing a full set of
Infused Iron armor causes attackers to receive Wither for 2 seconds when they hit you. Combined with the
Shockwave Creator trinket, this makes for a very effective melee defense. The Shockwave Creator deals 4 damage to all entities within 5 blocks when you land from a fall while sneaking, and with the full Infused Iron set equipped, it also applies Wither to affected mobs.

Advanced Materials
Sky Ingot
The
Sky Ingot is the mod's advanced material, required for most mid-to-late-game devices. To create Sky Ingots, you first need to craft a
Calling Spirit from Aura Bottles,
Infused Iron, and a Diamond. Then place the Calling Spirit on the Offering Table along with 3 Infused Iron Ingots. The Offering Table is a multiblock surrounded by flowers; when activated, the spirits consume the materials and produce a Sky Ingot. Sky Ingots are used in the Spawn Lamp, Field Creator, Auto Crafter, Animal Spawner,
Effect Powder, and other advanced recipes.
Conversion Catalyst
The Conversion Catalyst is a block crafted via Tree Ritual using a Jungle Sapling, Stained Glass, Infused Stone, a
Book,
Sky Ingot,
Gold Leaf, and a Glowstone block. When placed on the diagonal corners above the Natural Altar, it enables conversion recipes that transform one vanilla material into another. This is how you can produce otherwise difficult-to-obtain materials like Soul Sand, Nether Wart, Prismarine Shards, Leather, and Dragon's Breath without leaving the Overworld.
Ancient Wood
The Ancient Sapling is created through a Tree Ritual and grows into an Ancient Tree, producing Ancient Logs, Ancient Bark, and Ancient Leaves. Ancient Planks (crafted from Ancient Logs or Bark, yielding 2 Planks each) and Ancient Sticks are needed for
Infused Iron tools, the Auto Crafter multiblock, and various other recipes. Ancient Leaves contain Aura and slowly release it; when their internal Aura depletes, they turn into Decayed Leaves.
Automation & Utility Devices
Extraneous Firestarter (Furnace Heater)
The Furnace Heater is an attachment that powers a vanilla Furnace using Aura instead of fuel. Place it on any face of a Furnace and it will consume environmental Aura to keep the Furnace running indefinitely. This is one of the most practical early automation devices, eliminating the need for Coal or Charcoal entirely.
Placer
The Placer automatically places blocks from its inventory into the world. Combined with the Oak Generator, you can create a self-sustaining Aura generation loop: the Placer plants Saplings, trees grow, and the Oak Generator harvests the Aura.
Hopper Upgrade
The Hopper Upgrade sits on top of a Hopper and uses Aura to pull item entities from the world into the Hopper below. It requires at least 1,000 Aura in the area to function. Items within a 25-block radius are teleported into the Hopper, with each pickup draining a small amount of Aura.
Grated Chute
The Grated Chute is a filtered item transport. It functions like a Hopper but only accepts items that match a filter you set. This is essential for sorting systems and ensures only the right materials reach specific destinations.
Auto Crafter
The Auto Crafter is a multiblock built from Ancient Planks and Ancient Logs in a 7x7 platform pattern with the Auto Crafter block at the center. It automatically crafts recipes by collecting dropped items from the platform. Place item entities on the platform in the correct crafting grid pattern (using Droppers or thrown items), and the Auto Crafter will produce the output. This enables full automation of any standard crafting recipe.
Spawn Lamp
The Spawn Lamp prevents hostile mob spawning within a radius determined by its Redstone signal strength. The radius is calculated as the Redstone power level multiplied by 3, giving a maximum of 45 blocks at signal strength 15. This makes it an incredibly efficient mob-proofing solution for large areas.
Animal Spawner
The Animal Spawner is a multiblock made from Hardened Clay, Infused Brick, and Ancient Planks. It uses Aura and specific item ingredients to spawn mobs without needing breeding pairs. Each mob type has its own recipe; for example, Cows require a
Birth Spirit, Beef, and Leather, costing 500 Aura. Sheep can be spawned in specific colors by including the matching Wool block. The system supports over 30 different mob types, from passive animals to hostile mobs like Blazes (1,500 Aura), Ghasts (1,200 Aura), and even Wither Skeletons (1,500 Aura).
Trinkets & Special Items
Eye of the Druid
The
Eye of the Druid is a trinket item that renders visually on your character when carried. It allows you to see Aura-related particles and information in the world, giving you a basic understanding of Aura flow. The Improved Eye of the Druid is an upgraded version crafted with Sky Ingots and End Flowers, providing enhanced visualization capabilities.
Aura Cache
The
Aura Cache is a portable Aura container that holds up to 4,000 Aura. When carried in your inventory and you sneak, it automatically recharges
Infused Iron tools and armor that have taken durability damage. You can fill it by placing it on the Natural Altar while the altar has Aura stored. The durability bar on the item shows its current charge level. In areas with high ambient Aura, the environment can passively recharge Aura Caches in your inventory.
Shockwave Creator
The
Shockwave Creator is a trinket that creates a damaging shockwave when you land from a jump while sneaking. It deals 4 damage to all entities within a 5-block radius and costs 10 Aura per activation, plus 5 Aura per mob hit. It only triggers if you land near where you took off (within 0.75 blocks), preventing accidental activation during normal movement.
Color Changer
The
Color Changer lets you copy and paste dye colors between blocks. Sneak-right-click a colored block to copy its color, then right-click other colored blocks to change them. Toggle fill mode by sneak-right-clicking in the air, which causes the color change to spread to adjacent blocks of the same original color. Each color application costs 10 Aura from the player.
Birth Spirit
Birth Spirits are dropped by baby animals when they're born from breeding, but only in areas with at least 12,000 Aura. Each birth produces 1-3 Birth Spirits and drains 50 Aura per spirit dropped. Birth Spirits are required ingredients for every Animal Spawner recipe.
Effect Powder is crafted via Tree Rituals and comes in several variants. Plant Boost Powder accelerates crop growth, Cache Recharge Powder speeds up
Aura Cache charging, and Animal Powder enhances animal breeding. Place the powder in the world to create a persistent effect entity at that location.
Aura Environmental Effects
The world naturally responds to Aura levels. These effects are all configurable in the mod's config file and can be individually toggled on or off.
High Aura (Positive Effects)
When Aura levels are high, several beneficial effects occur naturally. Plant growth is boosted (Vegetational Increase), draining 200 Aura per growth tick. Animals in the area benefit from enhanced breeding and growth rates (Animal Effect), draining 150-200 Aura per effect. Aura Caches in player inventories passively recharge from ambient Aura (Cache Recharge Effect).
Low Aura (Negative Effects)
When Aura drops too low, the environment deteriorates. Grass and trees die in the area (Natural Decay), random explosions can occur, and players suffer breathlessness. These effects serve as a warning that you need to install or upgrade generators to replenish the local Aura supply.
Aura Balancing
Aura naturally balances across nearby areas through the Balance Effect and Spread Effect. This means Aura generated in one location will slowly distribute to nearby chunks. This natural balancing prevents extreme spikes in one location, but also means excessive consumption can drain a wide area.
Additional Utility Blocks
Aura Detector
The Aura Detector outputs a Redstone signal proportional to the Aura in a 25-block radius. The signal ranges from 0 to 15 based on dividing the local Aura by 20,000 and scaling to 15. This enables Redstone-based automation triggers that respond to Aura levels, letting you automatically activate generators when levels drop.
Pickup Stopper
The Pickup Stopper prevents players from picking up item entities within its range. This is useful for the Auto Crafter setup, where you need items to stay on the ground in specific positions rather than being collected by nearby players.
Field Creator
Field Creators work in pairs, creating an Aura field between two connected blocks. The maximum distance between two Field Creators is configurable, defaulting to 10 blocks. They are used in advanced automation setups and interact with Aura flow in the area.
RF Converter
The RF Converter bridges Nature's Aura with tech mods by converting Aura into Redstone Flux (RF). The conversion ratio defaults to 5 RF per 1 Aura and can be adjusted in the config. It requires its own multiblock structure made of Redstone Blocks. This block can be disabled entirely in the config if you want to keep the mod purely magical.
Mover Cart
The
Mover Cart is a special Minecart that transports Aura along Rails. Place it on a Rail to deploy it. This enables moving Aura from generation sites to consumption areas, useful for large bases where generators and crafting stations are far apart.
Configuration
Nature's Aura has a well-organized config file with three main sections. The General section lets you add custom Botanist Pickaxe conversions (using the format modid:input_block->modid:output_block), register additional flowers for generators, override Aura types for custom dimensions, set the Field Creator connection range (default 10), and adjust the Aura-to-RF ratio (default 5.0).
The Features section provides individual toggles for every environmental effect: grass dying, plant boosting, cache recharging, explosions, breathlessness, animal effects, and the RF Converter block. The Client section controls particle density (0.0 to 1.0), whether to respect vanilla particle settings, and debug display options for creative mode.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I see Aura levels in the world?
Craft the
Eye of the Druid (your first Tree Ritual) and carry it in your inventory. It enables Aura visualization particles. For more detailed information, the Aura Detector outputs a Redstone signal proportional to local Aura levels. In creative mode, pressing F3 also shows debug information about nearby Aura.
Why is my Natural Altar not working?
The Natural Altar requires its complete multiblock structure to function. It checks the structure every 40 ticks (2 seconds). Make sure all Stone Bricks, Chiseled Stone Bricks, Wood Planks, and Gold Bricks are in the correct positions. Also verify there is sufficient ambient Aura in the area (within 20 blocks). Some recipes also require a Conversion Catalyst placed on the diagonal corners one block above the altar.
How do I get Gold Leaf?
Craft
Gold Fiber from Gold Ingots and Tall Grass. Right-click Gold Fiber on leaf blocks to turn them into Golden Leaves. Wait for the Golden Leaves to naturally decay (or break them with Shears and replant), and they will drop
Gold Leaf. Convert several trees for a good supply.
Does Nature's Aura work with RF/tech mods?
Yes, the RF Converter block converts Aura into Redstone Flux at a configurable ratio (default 5 RF per 1 Aura). It requires a multiblock structure made of Redstone Blocks. The converter can be disabled in the config if you prefer a purely magical experience.
What happens if I run out of Aura?
Low Aura causes negative environmental effects: grass and trees die, random explosions can occur, and players experience breathlessness. Set up generators (Flower Generator, Oak Generator, or Animal Generator) to replenish Aura. The effects are configurable and can be individually disabled in the mod config.
How do I spawn mobs with the Animal Spawner?
Build the Animal Spawner multiblock using Hardened Clay, Infused Brick, and Ancient Planks. Each mob requires a
Birth Spirit plus specific ingredients. For example, Cows need a Birth Spirit, Beef, and Leather (500 Aura); Chickens need a Birth Spirit, Egg, and Feather (300 Aura). The system supports over 30 different mob types, including hostile mobs. Check the Recipes tab for the full list of spawning recipes.
