ParCool! Mod Guide: Every Parkour Move, Stamina System & Configuration
ParCool! transforms Minecraft movement with 23 parkour actions including wall running, vaulting, flipping, and dodging. The mod features a stamina system that governs how long you can chain moves together, custom Energy Drink potions, and extensive configuration for every action.
Overview
ParCool! is a movement overhaul mod that adds 23 parkour actions to Minecraft. You can wall run, vault over obstacles, dodge, slide, flip, cling to cliffs, and much more. Every action is context-sensitive, meaning the same key can trigger different moves depending on whether you're on the ground, in the air, or next to a wall.
The mod uses a stamina system to balance these powerful movement options. Each action consumes stamina, and when you run out, you'll need to rest before you can perform more moves. The stamina bar appears as a HUD overlay that you can customize in the settings. You can browse the mod's item in the Items tab above, and check the Recipes tab for brewing recipes.
Getting Started
- 1
Toggle ParCool On
ParCool! is active by default when you install it. You can toggle it on or off at any time by pressing Ctrl + P. When disabled, all parkour actions stop working and you move like vanilla Minecraft. A good first step is to open the settings with Alt + P and familiarize yourself with the options.
- 2
Learn the Core Movement Keys
Most actions share a few keys. Left Click (Mouse 1) handles wall interactions: Cling to Cliff, Vault, Hang Down, and Wall Slide. R is used for Breakfall, Dodge, and Horizontal Wall Run. C activates Crawl, and Left Shift triggers Fast Run. The mod figures out which action to perform based on your current state.
- 3
Practice Wall Moves
Find a tall wall and run toward it. Jump and hold Left Click to Cling to the Cliff, then climb up with Climb Up. You can also Wall Jump by pressing Space while against a wall, or initiate a Horizontal Wall Run by pressing R while running parallel to a wall. These are the bread and butter of ParCool! movement and cost moderate stamina.
- 4
Watch Your Stamina
Your stamina bar appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen by default. You start with 2000 stamina and recover 20 per tick while on the ground. Recovery in the air is 5 times slower. If you deplete your stamina completely, you become exhausted and must wait for a short cooldown before it starts recovering. Plan your moves accordingly and don't chain too many expensive actions in a row.
- 5
Try Vaulting and Sliding
Approach a one-block-high obstacle and press Left Click to Vault over it smoothly. While sprinting, press C to initiate a Slide that carries you under low gaps. These two moves together let you navigate terrain without ever stopping. Vaulting costs only 50 stamina and Sliding is free, making them ideal for everyday traversal.
Since Vault, Cling to Cliff, Hang Down, and Wall Slide all use Left Click, they never conflict because each only activates in specific contexts. However, if you find the shared R key for Breakfall, Dodge, and Horizontal Wall Run causing issues, you can rebind them individually in Minecraft's Controls menu under the ParCool! category.
All Parkour Actions
ParCool! adds 23 distinct parkour actions. Each one has its own stamina cost, animation, and activation condition. Some are passive (they trigger automatically in the right situation) while others require specific key presses. Every action can be individually enabled or disabled in the settings menu.
Ground Actions
Fast Run is your primary speed boost. Hold Left Shift while moving to sprint faster than normal, consuming 2 stamina per tick. The speed modifier defaults to 2.0x and can be adjusted between 0.001x and 4.0x in the config. Dodge costs 80 stamina and lets you quickly dash to the side. It has an 11-tick cooldown between uses and supports up to 3 successive dodges before requiring a 30-tick reset. Slide is a free action that lets you slip under low gaps while sprinting. It lasts up to 15 ticks by default (configurable up to 30). Crawl is also free and lets you move through one-block-high spaces.
Wall Actions
Cling to Cliff lets you grab onto wall edges by holding Left Click, draining 2 stamina per tick. From a cling, you can Climb Up (150 stamina) to pull yourself over the top. Wall Jump (120 stamina) bounces you off a wall mid-air by pressing Space, which you can chain between two walls to scale vertical shafts. Vertical Wall Run (150 stamina) lets you sprint straight up a wall face for a short burst. Horizontal Wall Run costs 2 stamina per tick and lets you run along a wall's surface for up to 25 ticks (configurable up to 40). Wall Slide (8 stamina/tick) slows your descent against a wall. Hang Down (3 stamina/tick) lets you dangle from a ledge.
Aerial Actions
Roll (100 stamina) lets you hit the ground with a tumble to maintain momentum. Breakfall Ready is a free stance you can hold before landing to reduce fall damage. It has a "just timing" mechanic that rewards precise activation. Flipping (80 stamina) performs a mid-air flip and is unbound by default; you'll need to assign a key. Cat Leap (150 stamina) is a precision jump toward a ledge. SkyDive and Dive are both free actions that change your falling or swimming animations.
Other Actions
Vault (50 stamina) smoothly hops over one-block obstacles. The vault animation mode can be set to Dynamic (auto-selects the best animation) or locked to a specific style. Climb Poles is free and lets you shimmy up narrow vertical structures. Jump From Bar (100 stamina) launches you off horizontal bars. Tap (100 stamina) is a quick push-off move. Quick Turn is a free instant 180-degree turn and is unbound by default. Fast Swim (3 stamina/tick) increases your underwater movement speed.
Action Stamina Costs
| Free (0 cost) | Low (2-8/tick) | Medium (50-100) | High (120-150) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Actions | Breakfall Ready, Climb Poles, Crawl, Dive, Quick Turn, SkyDive, Slide | Cling to Cliff (2), Fast Run (2), H. Wall Run (2), Fast Swim (3), Hang Down (3), Wall Slide (8) | Vault (50), Dodge (80), Flipping (80), Roll (100), Tap (100), Jump From Bar (100) | Wall Jump (120), Cat Leap (150), Climb Up (150), Vertical Wall Run (150) |
| Use Case | Everyday traversal | Sustained movement | Combat & acrobatics | Vertical scaling |
| Limitation | None | Drains over time | One-time cost per use | Expensive; plan ahead |
Some actions like Fast Run and Cling to Cliff drain stamina every tick (20 ticks per second) for as long as you hold them. Others like Vault and Wall Jump consume a flat amount once when activated. A Horizontal Wall Run at 2 stamina/tick over its full 25-tick duration costs 50 total stamina, which is the same as a single Vault.
The Stamina System
Every player starts with a maximum stamina of 2000 and recovers 20 stamina per tick while standing on the ground. Both values are attributes that can be modified by other mods or data packs. When you're in the air, stamina recovery drops to one-fifth of its normal rate (4 per tick by default), so chaining wall moves without touching the ground drains your reserves quickly.
After consuming stamina, there's a 30-tick (1.5 second) cooldown before recovery begins. If your stamina hits zero, you enter an exhausted state and cannot perform any stamina-consuming actions until recovery kicks in and you build your reserves back up. This cooldown mechanic rewards measured play over spamming moves.
Players in Creative Mode automatically get infinite stamina by default, though this can be toggled off. Infinite stamina can also be enabled for Survival Mode, but it requires both the client config option to be enabled and the server to permit it in parcool-server.toml. On singleplayer worlds, the server permission is granted by default.
Stamina Defaults
| Max Stamina | 2000 |
| Recovery (ground) | 20 per tick |
| Recovery (airborne) | 4 per tick (÷5) |
| Recovery Cooldown | 30 ticks (1.5 seconds) |
| Configurable Range | 10 - 10,000 max stamina |
| Recovery Range | 0 - 10,000 per tick |
Energy Drink Potions
ParCool! adds a custom brewing system with two potion tiers and a unique effect called Inexhaustible. When the Inexhaustible effect is active, all stamina consumption is completely eliminated, letting you chain parkour moves indefinitely.
Poor Energy Drink
The Poor Energy Drink is the entry-level potion. It grants 2 minutes of Inexhaustible along with brief bursts of Speed and Haste (5 seconds each). You brew it by combining an Awkward Potion with either Sugar or a Cookie in a Brewing Stand. Both ingredients produce the same result, so use whichever is more accessible.
Energy Drink
The full Energy Drink is a significant upgrade, providing 8 minutes of Inexhaustible with no other side effects. You can brew it in two ways: upgrade a Poor Energy Drink with Glowstone Dust, or brew an Awkward Potion directly with Glowstone Dust. The 8-minute duration makes it ideal for long exploration sessions or navigating complex structures where constant parkour is needed.
Energy Drink potions work with standard Potion, Splash Potion, and Lingering Potion bottles. You can throw a Splash Energy Drink to give your entire party Inexhaustible on a multiplayer server, which is great for coordinated parkour challenges.
Keybindings Reference
ParCool! uses a context-sensitive keybinding system. Multiple actions can share the same key because they only activate under specific conditions. For example, Left Click handles Cling to Cliff when you're airborne near a wall edge, Vault when approaching a low obstacle, Hang Down when at a ledge, and Wall Slide when falling along a wall.

Configuration
ParCool! has extensive configuration split between client and server config files. The client config (parcool-client.toml) controls your personal settings, while the server config (parcool-server.toml) lets server administrators control what actions are permitted for all players. Most settings can also be changed through the in-game settings GUI accessed with Alt + P.
Client Settings
The in-game settings screen has three tabs. The Action Limitation tab shows all 23 actions with checkboxes to enable or disable each one individually. It also shows server-wide and individual permission status so you can see which actions the server allows. The Boolean Config tab has toggles for animations, camera effects, and control options. The Enum Config tab handles multi-option settings like stamina HUD position, control schemes, and the GUI color theme.
Notable Client Options
The Fast Run speed modifier (default 2.0x, range 0.001 to 4.0x) and Dodge speed modifier (default 1.0x, range 0.5 to 1.5x) let you tune how dramatic these movements feel. Wall Run duration defaults to 25 ticks and Slide duration to 15 ticks, both configurable. Camera animations can be individually toggled for Dodge, Backward Wall Jump, Roll, Flipping, Vault, Horizontal Wall Run, and Hang Down, so you can disable any that cause motion discomfort. You can also substitute Sprint for Fast Run if you prefer not to use a separate key, and enable or disable Vault and Crawl while airborne.
Server Settings
Server administrators can use the /parcool command to change individual player action permissions at runtime. The server config file also sets maximum limits for stamina values, speed modifiers, and action durations. These act as caps that override client-side settings, ensuring no player can exceed the server's intended balance. The limitation_imposed option (false by default) must be set to true for server-side action restrictions to take effect.
If you're playing on a server and certain actions aren't working even though they're enabled in your client settings, check the server-wide permission column in the Action Limitation screen (Alt + P). The server administrator may have restricted specific actions. Infinite stamina also requires server-side permission even in singleplayer.
The ParCool Guide Item
The mod adds a single item: the ParCool Guide. It's an unstackable item (max stack size of 1) that serves as an in-game reference. You can find it in the Creative inventory under the ParCool tab or obtain it through commands.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I turn ParCool off without uninstalling it?
Press Ctrl + P to toggle the entire mod on or off. You can also disable individual actions through the settings screen (Alt + P) if you only want to turn off specific moves.
Why does my stamina not recover?
Stamina has a 30-tick (1.5 second) cooldown after any consumption before recovery begins. If you keep performing actions, the cooldown resets each time. Stop moving for a moment and let the cooldown expire. Also note that airborne recovery is 5 times slower than ground recovery.
Can I use ParCool on servers that don't have the mod installed?
ParCool! is a client-side mod that handles animations and movement locally, but the server needs ParCool! installed to properly sync capabilities, permissions, and the stamina system. Without server support, the mod may partially work but server-side features like permission control and the /parcool command won't function.
How do I get infinite stamina?
Enable 'infinite_stamina' in your client config. The server must also permit it via 'allow_infinite_stamina' in parcool-server.toml (enabled by default). Creative Mode players get infinite stamina automatically unless the 'infinite_stamina_if_creative_mode' option is disabled. Alternatively, brew an Energy Drink potion for 8 minutes of the Inexhaustible effect.
What is the Breakfall 'just timing' mechanic?
When you activate Breakfall (R key) just before hitting the ground with precise timing, you get a special 'just time' effect that provides better results than holding Breakfall throughout the entire fall. This rewards skilled players who can time their landings. The feature can be disabled in the boolean config if you prefer.
Can server admins restrict specific parkour moves?
Yes. Set 'limitation_imposed' to true in parcool-server.toml, then toggle individual action permissions (permit_WallJump, permit_FastRun, etc.) to false. You can also use the /parcool command to change permissions for individual players at runtime. Players will see denied permissions in their Action Limitation settings screen.
