YUNG Structures Addon for Loot Integrations Guide: Better Loot in Better Structures
YUNG Structures Addon for Loot Integrations bridges the gap between YUNG's overhauled structures and the modded loot ecosystem. It ensures that Chests inside Better Dungeons, Better Desert Temples, Better Strongholds, and other YUNG structures contain loot from all your installed mods, not just vanilla items. If you run a modpack with both YUNG's mods and Loot Integrations, this addon is essential for a cohesive experience.
Overview
YUNG Structures Addon for Loot Integrations is a server-side compatibility addon that connects YUNG's popular structure overhaul mods with the Loot Integrations framework. Without this addon, YUNG's revamped structures use their own custom loot tables, which means modded items from other mods never appear in those Chests. This addon maps YUNG's custom loot tables to comparable vanilla loot tables, allowing the Loot Integrations system to inject modded loot into every YUNG structure.
The addon covers seven YUNG structure mods: Better Desert Temples, Better Jungle Temples, Better Dungeons, Better Nether Fortresses, Better Ocean Monuments, Better Strongholds, and Better Witch Huts. It also includes support for YUNG's Extras. Once installed, you do not need to configure anything. The loot integration happens automatically.
Prerequisites
This mod is an addon and will not function on its own. You need the Loot Integrations base mod installed, which is the framework that handles injecting modded items into vanilla loot tables. You also need at least one of YUNG's structure mods installed (Better Dungeons, Better Desert Temples, Better Jungle Temples, Better Nether Fortresses, Better Ocean Monuments, Better Strongholds, or Better Witch Huts) for the addon to have any effect.
The addon is server-side only, meaning it only needs to be installed on the server in a multiplayer setup. Clients connecting to the server do not need it. In singleplayer, simply place it in your mods folder alongside Loot Integrations and your YUNG mods.
This addon has no config files and requires zero setup. Drop it into your mods folder and it works immediately. The loot table mappings are baked into the mod's data files.
Getting Started
- 1
Install the Required Mods
Make sure you have the Loot Integrations base mod installed in your mods folder. Without it, this addon has nothing to hook into. You also need at least one YUNG structure mod, such as Better Dungeons or Better Desert Temples.
- 2
Add the Addon to Your Mods Folder
Place the YUNG Structures Addon JAR file into your mods folder alongside your other mods. It is compatible with Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge depending on the version you download.
- 3
Launch and Explore
Start your world and explore YUNG's overhauled structures. Open the Chests inside Better Dungeons, Better Desert Temples, Better Strongholds, and other supported structures. You should now find modded items from your other installed mods appearing alongside vanilla loot.
- 4
Verify It Is Working
If you have mods that add items to vanilla loot tables (most large content mods do), those items should now appear in YUNG structure Chests. If you only see vanilla items, double-check that Loot Integrations is installed and that your other mods actually add items to loot tables.
How It Works
Loot Integrations works by taking modded items that other mods add to vanilla loot tables and redistributing them into custom structure loot tables. The problem is that YUNG's mods replace vanilla structures with entirely new ones that use their own custom loot tables. Since modded items are added to vanilla tables like Simple Dungeon or Nether Bridge, they never appear in YUNG's replacements.
This addon solves that by defining mappings between YUNG's custom loot tables and comparable vanilla loot tables. Each YUNG Chest type is assigned a weight that determines how likely modded loot is to appear there, with higher weights meaning more frequent modded drops.
Supported Structures and Loot Tiers
The addon organizes its loot mappings into five categories based on difficulty and location. Each category draws from a different vanilla loot table as its baseline, ensuring that the modded loot you find is appropriate for the challenge level of the structure.
Easy Dungeon Loot
Mapped to the vanilla Simple Dungeon loot table, this is the broadest category covering most standard Chests across YUNG's structures. It includes Better Desert Temples (Lab, Storage, Tomb, and Wardrobe Chests), Better Dungeons (Skeleton Dungeon common and middle Chests, Spider Dungeon Egg Room, Zombie Dungeon common and Tombstone Chests), Better Jungle Temples (Treasure and Campsite Chests), Better Nether Fortresses (Beacon and Keep Chests), Better Strongholds (Common, Armoury, Crypt, Grand Library, Prison, Treasure, and Trap Chests), and Better Witch Huts. Each Chest type has a different weight, with higher-value locations like the Jungle Temple Treasure Chest (weight 6) and Stronghold Treasure Chest (weight 5) receiving more modded loot than common storage Chests.
Medium Dungeon Loot
Mapped to the vanilla Stronghold Crossing loot table, this tier covers the most valuable Chests in the lineup. It includes Better Desert Temples (Library, Pharaoh Hidden, and Tomb Pharaoh Chests) and Better Dungeons (Zombie Dungeon Special Chests). The Pharaoh-related Chests carry a weight of 5, reflecting their status as high-reward locations.
Nether Loot
Mapped to the vanilla Nether Bridge loot table, this tier handles all Nether-side Chests. It includes Better Dungeons (Small Nether Dungeon Chests) and Better Nether Fortresses (Extra, Obsidian, Puzzle, Hall, Quarters, Storage, and Worship Chests). The main Fortress Chests share equal weight, while Quarters, Storage, and Worship Chests have lower weights for more modest loot.
Water Loot
Mapped to the vanilla Underwater Ruin (Big) loot table, this tier covers Better Ocean Monuments. The Upper Side Chamber Chests receive a weight of 6, making them a reliable source of modded aquatic loot.
Village Loot
Mapped to the vanilla Village Plains House loot table, this tier handles more domestic or lower-tier Chests. It draws from Better Desert Temples (Food Storage), Better Strongholds (Mess Hall), Better Witch Huts, and YUNG's Extras (Desert Ruins). These provide a lighter mix of modded items appropriate for early-game exploration.
If you want the highest concentration of modded loot, prioritize Better Jungle Temple Treasure Chests (weight 6), Better Ocean Monument Upper Chambers (weight 6), and Better Desert Temple Pharaoh Tombs (weight 5). These locations have the highest loot weights and will contain the most varied modded items.
Loot Weight by Structure
| Better Jungle Temple (Treasure) | Weight 6 |
| Better Ocean Monument (Upper Chamber) | Weight 6 |
| Better Desert Temple (Pharaoh Tombs) | Weight 5 |
| Better Stronghold (Treasure) | Weight 5 |
| Better Stronghold (Armoury / Grand Library) | Weight 4 |
| Better Dungeons (Zombie Special) | Weight 4 |
| Better Desert Temple (Lab) | Weight 3 |
| Better Nether Fortress (Obsidian / Puzzle / Hall) | Weight 3 |
| Better Witch Hut | Weight 2-3 |
| Better Stronghold (Common / Trap) | Weight 1 |
Compatibility
This addon has no known incompatibilities and works alongside any other mods. It does not modify any loot tables directly; it simply tells the Loot Integrations framework which YUNG Chest types should receive modded loot. Any mod that adds items to vanilla loot tables through standard methods will automatically have its items appear in YUNG's structures through this addon.
The addon supports Minecraft versions 1.18.2, 1.19.2, 1.19.3, 1.19.4, and 1.20.1. It works with Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge depending on the version downloaded. All Chest loot is capped at a maximum of 12 items per Chest to prevent overly generous drops.
If you are not seeing modded items in YUNG structure Chests, make sure the Loot Integrations base mod is installed. This addon does nothing without it. Also confirm that your other content mods actually inject items into vanilla loot tables. Some mods only add items through crafting recipes and never touch loot tables at all.
FAQ
Do I need all of YUNG's structure mods installed?
No. You only need at least one YUNG structure mod for the addon to be useful. The addon includes mappings for all seven YUNG mods plus YUNG's Extras, but it will simply ignore mappings for any YUNG mods you do not have installed.
Does this mod add new items, blocks, or structures?
No. This addon adds no new content to the game. It only creates mappings between YUNG's custom loot tables and vanilla loot tables so that the Loot Integrations framework can populate YUNG's structure Chests with modded items.
Is this required on the client side?
No. This addon is server-side only. In a multiplayer setup, only the server needs it installed. Clients connecting to the server do not need the addon. In singleplayer, you install it in your mods folder as normal.
Will this affect Chests in structures that have already been generated?
It depends on whether you have already opened the Chests. In Minecraft, Chest loot is generated the first time a player opens the Chest, not when the structure spawns. If you have not opened the Chests yet, they will contain modded loot after installing the addon. Chests that have already been opened will not change.
Why am I only seeing vanilla loot in YUNG's structures?
First, confirm that the Loot Integrations base mod is installed. Without it, this addon cannot function. Second, check that your other mods actually add items to vanilla loot tables. Not all mods do. Third, modded loot is weighted alongside vanilla items, so it may take several Chests before you notice new items appearing.
